"Exploring the Miraculous Site of Simala Church"
The castle-like Monastery of the Holy Eucharist, also known as Our Lady of Lindogon Shrine, more commonly known as Simala Parish Church, is a beautiful and spiritual destination proudly nestled on the Marian Hills Ligondon Sibonga, Cebu, Philippines. It is a popular pilgrimage site for Catholics and tourists alike, thanks to the presence of the miraculous Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Simala, also known as the "Miraculous Mama Mary."
On our recent visit to Simala Parish Church, there were many people because it was days before the celebration of the Sinulog Festival, so we already kind of expected it. But I am still surprised by the stunning beauty of the Monastery.
As soon as I entered the gate going to the Monastery, I was struck by the magnificent view of Simala's castle-like structure. It's a sweeping architecture of columns and terraces that surrounds the area.
The first thing we did upon entering the Monastery was falling in line to meet, kiss, and pray to the Virgin Mary. It is a long line because there are a lot of people who wanted to meet and kiss the Virgin Mary. As we go inside the Monastery, we saw a lot of patron saint statues, and letters from locals who believed to have been healed and helped by the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are pictures, wheelchairs, calculators from graduates, etc.
And at some point we took our shoes offs because shoes, slippers, and sandals aren't allowed inside.
After we met and prayed to the Virgin Mary, we bought and lit different colors of candles symbolizing different needs. We offered prayers with the colored candles, we lit the candle specifically colored pink for happiness.
You can also see the landscape garden with the words: "WE LOVE MAMA MARY", beside the votive candle stand.
As of the moment, the gardens are completely off limits mainly because of the construction around it, but you can still enjoy the beautiful scenery.
It was a sudden and short visit, but it was an amazing and stunning experience, from the Monastery's castle-like structure, serene atmosphere, and replicas of the Blessed Virgin Mary to souvenirs. I and my family had a great and memorable experience.

Story time || MARY LUZ || Story time. Back in Grade 6, I couldn’t forget this classmate who said that my momma was crazy coming up with this name - mother MARY LUZcifer. Taba ng utak! Instead of getting mad, I was really laughing out loud outside the room where their group was tasked to clean that day. I was right not to get mad to that person who might be reading this post, if ever s/he (not gonna give you more hints. Haha) follows me. S/he was one of those who gave their belated birthday greetings, so i guess we’re good. 😉 Here are my takeaways from that SHE (significant human experience): 1. Not everyone gets the same version of you. It’s not everyday that you feel okay and smile when you meet people. There are days when you feel light and make other’s life bright by being the more sociable you. Sometimes you’re just too busy to give a damn and that’s fine. Some days are good, some are bad. People who are not threatened by your presence will describe you in a good light and understand where you’re coming from, especially during your heat of the moment. 2. You need not fake it. Having an image that’s so far from your real identity is kinda high maintenance. You just gotta be you ‘cause at the end of the day, people will always have something good or bad to say depending on what they experience in your presence. People throw stones at things that shine. But if you know yourself well enough, they can’t bring you down that easily. They can throw shades but you know your true colors. So just stay true, stay tough. 3. Don’t struggle defending yourself against haters. Don’t insist that you are like this or that, if ever the same thing happens to you. Respect their views/impressions of you. You may get offended by their make-up stories and that’s normal, but never ever ever be the ghost they are afraid of themselves. People who dislike you or your presence will always reveal you as the beast even if you’re doing your best to treat them accordingly. So DON’T waste your time. Just STOP and care less. #MHEYRthful2022 #SumMHEYR2022 #MHEYRinCEBU #SimalaChurch #birthdayLEAVE #travels #PILIpinas #MHEYRealizations #MgaTULAatTALAniMariaLuthia (at Blessed Virgin Mary of Simala Shrine, Sibunga, Cebu) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdlKEKdPHeO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
