How to I populate vacation neighborhoods? I'd like to make custom sims but letting the game create their own sims with my default face templates are fine. I'm tired of the vacation neighbors being empty. Can you help?
Hi! Huh, it’s been years since I actually played vacation neighborhoods, but I think you have to put out your noregen hacks, and they’ll spawn? Also, I think @holleyberry was the last who I saw dealing with vacation hoods, so maybe she can help you with her experiences?
EDIT:

Locals: townie brick. Tourists: townie gun and Cyjon's Fewer Tourists mod. Can I shamelessly link to my own tutorial https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=529698

i really like these bracelets, most of my male sims in ts4 wear these
Thank you! There are a lack of manly bracelets, as I noticed, so it resulted this conversion! :)

Thanks! I’ll probably convert some more accessories (at least they don’t need remapping XD) :D

Oh! I was just looking for a bracelet like this! You must be reading my mind! (Be afraid! :) )
Yayy! To be honest, I was also looking for a bracelet like this a few months ago... Well, we have it now :D (and yes, I’m developing my mind reading ability :P)

It's always sad when pets die. Even more sad than sims' death.
@charmandersims @dramallamadingdang, @megadevotedlyfuriousbouquet @alawren4ever @sims-influence Yeah that’s sad. Sims death are something, but there’s always something special when it comes to pets. :(
@dramallamadingdang replied to your post “What’s in your Sim’s bag?”
This is fun! :) I'll have to think about who my victim will be. And then I'll probably have to download bag contents because I just don't have cluttery stuff like that... Then again a Sim's "bag" can apparently have cars stuffed into it, so...
Oh I can’t wait to see this! I was too lazy to download a bunch of “bag clutters” but there are some pretty good Maxis accessories. And yes, I wish we can carry big objects like furnitures and vehicles like Sims does!

@simlili replied to your post “What’s in your Sim’s bag?”
So I checked, and my last reply post was almost 2 years ago. Oops.
I started this Simblr primarily for telling the story of what happened in my Widespot. Unless I can deliver that content on a consistent basis, I don’t feel right cluttering up the space with text posts, reblogs and the like. So during periods when I didn’t write anything to add to the story, I didn’t post. It’s always been like that with me and TS2--an unpredictable manic-depressive cycle of obsession-nothing.
The good news is, I’ve been actually getting some writing done recently--in fact, you might have noticed I now have a queue set up. I am incredibly proud of this.
And so, I am going to reward myself by answering replies, because I love talking about the game, and especially my story. Some of these are ancient, and the post is long, so I’ll put it under a cut. Replies are mostly for @penig, but also include @moocha-muses, @simlili and @dramallamadingdang.

Penny needs to invite people over.
I’m going to be honest--a lot of this one is on me. Penny is busy with her children, yes, but inviting sims over and throwing parties is something I’ve had to make a conscious effort to add to my playstyle. I am an introvert, so I don’t naturally think to do those things, but Penny certainly would. I get better at it later on.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Overwhelmed, yeah, that’s one (very generous) way to look at it…
You know, as many exasperating, irresponsible, and even unkind things as other Widespot denizens do, Junior is still the one I most often want to slap. It’s the nice points - they raise expectations.
Junior is the kind of person who wants to be helpful, and so does something that on the surface seems helpful, but then--without examining the situation further--dusts his hands off, congratulates himself on being helpful, and then goes on to “help” someone else, leaving chaos in his wake.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Holly has some good Nice points, but the Group Home girls all start out either in, or close to, aspiration failure. Because at-risk teens do not have a lot of sources of satisfaction in their lives! And teens in aspiration failure tend to act out.
I keep my sims too happy, but that’s something I’m trying to work on. This household is great practice.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
More signs of aspiration failure. I forgot about destroying flowerbeds as a form of acting out when I put those cacti there.
This is meant to be a very challenging house. The one you play when the Newsons and Ottomai have gotten Too Easy.
I mean, technically, she has shoes on at least!
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Hey, I see Steve - and Maribel! Looks like she kept walking and he made a pass at the wrong girl there.
“Tease” seems to have been swamped by other, more strongly-coded ones when later EPs came out. You can still choose Tease options, but they’re kind of buried, and other options are far more likely to be performed autonomously.
It didn’t occur to me when we were planning the neighborhood what a difficult time Steve is going to have with any of the Group Home girls. Holly is gay, sure, but any of the others will be almost as much of a challenge because of the aspiration failure. They’re just not in the right place for romance.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Claire and Holly get along real well! Whoa, Maribel jacked a car!
I blame Tia Geni. ;)
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
And there’s SodaPop! I think I recognize this house - it’s right in the same neighborhood as the Splitter/Dore house and the Group Home. Looks like Claire and David King really get along!
They do. When I was playtesting this, I considered requesting a pre-established relationship, but the more I thought about it, the more I concluded that A--there’s no need, and B--Claire might have prioritized the Group Home over personal friendships. Plus, there’s more room for interpretation this way.

Aw on him leaving money to the grandchild he never got to meet!
I think Rich is one of those old white dudes who do things for their families because at the end of the day, they think it somehow absolves them of their other failures. They’ll be on their deathbeds, thinking about all the nasty shit they said and the ruthless business deals they made, and then they’ll just say to themselves, “But I was a good provider. My family didn’t lack for anything they needed.” As though that justifies everything else.

A complicated Mann.
I’d be curious to see someone play out the prequel of Rich Mann. I’m not convinced that he had to turn out the way he did, and I’m wondering what it was that ended up pointing him that direction.
simlili said: :D Rest in relative peace, Rich, if you can, you will surprisingly be missed.
Indeed. It was his genuine affection for Anita that took me by surprise. They didn’t know each other that long, but I can promise you, Anita never forgot him.

The rock and roll lifestyle has its hard knocks.
I get the feeling Gunnar got used to being slapped a long time ago.
penig said: Yeah, that’s not gonna come back and bite you in the butt, Gunnar…but it’s all material, right?
It’s material, and ego boost. After all, if his music career is off to a slow start, at least he’s good at something. Not, of course, that I think Gunnar even realizes that’s what he’s doing.
dramallamadingdang said: Better to want 20 grandchildren than 20 kids! :) At least you can give grandchildren back!
Ha! And yet, I would not be surprised if Beulah had wanted 20 kids, either. Maybe she’s older and wiser now. ;)
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Stay alive long enough, Beulah, and it’s a lock.
Actually...hmm. I think the Land grandchildren only made it to 17. But you shall see what happened to Beulah.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
He can’t possibly look at her all grown up and not flash back to Beulah at the same age.
Possibly wondering how his and Beulah’s futures would have turned out differently if they could have had a college education? At least Delta will find out.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Poor Virginia…This is not what she grew up expecting from life.
No, and that’s what made me love Virginia. As long as she was the princess, she bored me, but when she got back to Widespot and her whole life turned into a great big “Now what?” she became immensely interesting. Like her mother, she’s been raised to have certain expectations, that may or may not be tied to reality. But Virginia took that step back (partly prompted by having to deal with her mom) and had to come to the uncomfortable realization that she is a factor in determining the outcome of her future.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Presumably they’re using Valentine and Angel during his years on the road as models. It only has to work for them, not make sense to anyone else.
True--but I don’t think either of them are being particularly honest with their other partners. I won’t call Val and Angel a bad example, but Sandy definitely was.
I have such a hard time finding a genre for the Bees. At any rate, I plan to end the multi-genre prologue soon and move on to chapter one.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Yeah, don’t try to compete with a Hart on that playing field.
Goldie knows what she’s doing. Rocky and Spelling have good chemistry, and if it didn’t happen this way, Goldie would be the one stamping her foot outside the hot tub.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
That’s quite the face on L’only! (Oh, Scot!)
Yeah, L’only is pretty clearly Junior’s kid, but because Candy never married, it kind of doesn’t matter. Rich has left it arranged for L’only to be able to attend college, which is a major rule exception in my ‘hood because L’only is of undocumented parentage (read: bastard) but after that he will not be able to hold a normal job. I can go into that rule later.
As for Scot...”oh, Scot” is right. I don’t remember if I’ve said before, but he has a turn-on for aliens, plus, I think he’s pre-disposed to have a thing for Penny--certainly she must have featured in the spank-bank at one point or another, given the dearth of non-Land women in Widespot. As for Penny, I rather suspect that Junior is under delusions about what constitutes “getting the job done” at home.

It’s always good to see Skye happy. And he and Stella will have an awesome green baby!
I love, love, LOOOOVE Stella and Skye. I have to be honest, they’re boring as heck, but I don’t even care. They’re just so cute together. And I think she’s perfect for Skye because in a way he’s expanded his comfort zone, but in a way, he never had to leave it.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
So what that his LTW? Is he permaplat now?
Uhhhh, I think so. I forget. I know he reached permaplat, either from that, or just from maxing the bar. I kept him alive a LOT longer than I had any reason to--I actually had to write it into the story that he had made the elixir of life himself, because there was no natural way to explain why he lived so long. He had a lamp, but he wouldn’t use it because it was all fairy tales and he was Science. Plus, Street, his dog, continues to be immortal to this day, so he must have perfected it for the dog and only had partial success on sims.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Oh, dear, robot mess! Good thing Skye enjoys cleaning. But that’s the opposite of what the robot is for, dang it!
Brace yourself. The robot problems get much worse.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
100% Sandy’s POV. If the world won’t meet your terms, rewrite it around yourself.
Absolutely. I was really trying to do that with the multi-genre format, to establish that what the character thinks about the situation is totally subjective and from their point of view. Sandy lives in a soap opera fantasy, so that’s how her story is told.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Don’t forget to give that boy a telescope. Have you considered the possibility that Anne can impregnate him?
I have, Anne probably has (she doesn’t say much, even to me) but Scot definitely has not. My Scot has a very traditional idea of gender norms, and he’s not open-minded about that at all. He does have a telescope, and although I don’t think I have pictures of him using it, I’m fairly confident that he did a fair bit--but he was never abducted.

If she’s old enough to ask the questions, she’s old enough to hear the answers.
Fortunately for Maria, Penny is one of the few Widespot parents wise enough to realize that. She’s always been very honest and objective about her daughters’ development, and she is one of the moms who insists on birth control.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Three kids so young! They are awful cute, though.
All of River’s kids turned out adorable. One of the things I’m trying to do with young families is to experiment with income level, so that not all sims are of the same social class. I’m not totally happy with results yet, but you should see more of it as we go along.
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Myrtle is a very deep-thinking young lady.
I had never thought about this until you said so, but you’re right. I do play Myrtle as being a little more perceptive and thoughtful than other sims. I think it’s because she ended up rolling as bisexual. She’s still got her issues, though--all shy and grouchy? She can’t get along with people for shit. XD
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Oh, dear. And therapy options are limited in Widespot.
And even if they found an option, how are they going to get her to go? She doesn’t think she has a problem. Virginia could threaten to kick her out, but Sandy helped pay for the house.
moocha-muses said: The best Penny moments are definitely the ones when her scientific rigor falls right by the wayside.
Agreed. Penny is so interested in objective truth (which is important) that she neglects her subjective view of the world (which is also important). High Int, low wis. She shies away from knowing herself. I think she scares herself a little. What if she were to find out that she was the Other?
penig reblogged this from emeraldfalconsims and added:
Oh, Penny…
I see the entire Weiss family as having this huge hole left by the absence of the alien parent. Ann Rice has a really great quote in Interview with the Vampire where Louis says to Claudia,
...only you were complete...because there were two of us, one on either side of you, from the beginning.
Woody tries to fill that hole with sex, Penny tries to fill it with friends. Skye, as his bio says, has gotten used to it. But they are all, to a certain extent, still dealing with the trauma of that abandonment.
