Simon Reese be like “yeah I can bilocate” and Alex be like “fuck yeah man love who you love”
SIMON REESE // THE BLACK TAPES PODCAST
You see, Alex, it’s a curse. It’s a virus. The end is not coming with a bang, but within each of us.
Surpise, @stone-freed! Happy early Unsoundiversary! Here’s part 1 of your gift. You said you love Simon, and I do too. I love the duality within him, all his disparate contradicting parts. That’s the inspiration for this aesthetic. I hope you like it!
I’ll be posting part 2 and part 3 of your gift over today/tomorrow to space it out a bit, so some more things to look forward to :)

So I wrote something for the Extremely Cursed Rarepair Challenge.
The fact that it’s late is NOT what I’m most sorry for.

Simon Reese: I'm telling you this to warn you, Alex. You have a choice. Strand has a choice. Go and realise the end of everything. Or stay away and keep the world you know alive. At least a little while longer. Either way, it's time to come out of the shadows. Goodbye Alex.
-The Black Tapes (Episode 306)
That Old Simon Reese Energy, Baby
I discovered Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson novels two years ago and I'm on my 3rd full series re-read. It's damn fine urban fantasy, with a complex world and characters you just can't get enough of. Even the very minor characters that only show up once in a while.
Like Wulfe.
Wulfe is a DICK. Wulfe is an all-knowing permanent teenage vampire who gets his kicks being the creepiest motherfucker in the room. He enjoys being mysterious, occasionally useful, frequently violent, and a monster. The latest book dropped a Wulfe bombshell that made me go back and read the series again just to see if there was a hint.
As I was listening to it today, I realized I love Wulfe because he reminds me of Simon Reese.
So fellow Black Tapes fans, if you need a bit of violent and creepy in your life, do I have the 11 book series for you!
Simon: don’t play dumb, Alex
Dr. Strand: unfortunately for you, Simon, she has a hard time doing anything else
