Into The Woods - Available Now!

At last, Stacey Whittle's anthology Into The Woods is finally available to buy!

The book brings together some of the finest small press comic creators around today to give their own unique takes on fairy and folk tales, including Richard McAuliffe, Sarah Dunkerton, Matt Gibbs, Alice Duke, Scott Harrison, Daniel Clifford, Bevis Musson, Alexi Conman &, Connor Boyle, and, er, me.

Myself and Simon Wyatt (with Filip Roncone on lettering duties) have done our own version of the Northumbrian folk tale The Lang Pack (or The Long Pack, for all you Southerners), a bizarre little tale that I don't think has been told in comic form before.

In the Winter of 1723, a peddlar leaves his pack with the skeleton staff of Lee Hall in Bellingham while he sought other lodgings. However, during the night, the pack begins to move of its own accord...

The book is complemented by this rather tasty front cover by Andy Bloor (with colours by Steven Howard):

First Look: The Lang Pack

As I previously mentioned, podcasting queen and all round lovely person Stacey Whittle is putting together her very own comic, Into The Woods: A Fairy Tale Anthology, which features the cream of UK small press talents.

Along with Simon Wyatt, I did an adaptation of a Northumbrian folk tale, The Lang Pack, a strange little story about a pedlar who leaves his pack with the staff of Lee Hall in Bellingham while he goes off to find lodgings. However, during the night, the staff swear the pack begins to move...

Simon has just sent me the finished art for the story, and, with his and Stacey's permission, I'm going to post a couple of things from it as a way of a teaser. Firstly, we have Simon's concept of The Pedlar, who kicks off the story:

Into The Woods: A Fairytale Anthology - will also feature contributions from Rich McAuliffe, Sarah Dunkerton, Matt Gibbs, Alice Duke, Scott Harrison, Daniel Clifford, Bevis Musson and many, many more. The book will be getting its official launch at the Cardiff Comic Expo next year.
