Movie inspired by Cargo australian short film starring Andy Rodoreda.
From Simone Landers' Instagram. She was Martin's co-star in Cargo. Lovely memories for Simone, too. The photo with the mosquito nets was new to me.

I highly recommend you watch the original short film(only 7min!) on Youtube first. This movie added so much more to that very simple premise!
Cargo is a 2017 Australian post-apocalyptic horror drama film directed by Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke with a screenplay by Ramke based on their 2013 short film of the same name, starring Martin Freeman, Simone Landers, Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter and Caren Pistorius.
so i just watched the Netflix movie Cargo and i don't know if it's just my emotional attachment to Martin Freeman as an actor (i grew up with a lot of British media so its the same with a lot of British actors) as well as his exceptional acting skills but gosh, was this the first movie to rip such a visceral reaction out of me from the first couple minutes and continue that feeling throughout the movie
i feel like what sets it apart from other zombie movies is its not glamorized and over the top with explosions and exaggerated reactions, it's just a dad trying to make sure his daughter is safe and it's so....human. it just felt natural to me. it feels raw.
i dunno, maybe it's just because i was still coming out of a vulnerable headspace when i watched it but almost every scene was affecting me to a point i've never felt before, i actually had to pause a few times to leave the room and distract myself. not to mention, those last couple scenes? fuck.
i wasn't a huge fan of the scenes with Vic because i felt like the story wouldn't have changed much without them - it felt like it was mostly really there to emphasize that colonialism theme. but damn did everything from character reactions to shot styling to editing to music choices really do an effective job of getting across the desperation and sorrow and i just,,,, wow. the only thing that kept me from having an emotional breakdown at the end was that my mum was in the room with me aksbsjsbd-
i definitely recommend this, it's a good and gripping watch!
since breeders is almost here, and stupid people on the interwebs are screeching about him being a child beater or some other dumb bullshit, a random ovary-exploding collection of the freebabe with actual babes and kids from scenes and bts shots from cargo and sherlock. i know there’s probably a crap ton more from nativity and even ode to joy, even from filming ads for vodafone but i’ve already hit the 10 image limit lol.
also i need to save my dash from being only flooded with his 80s perm in angelyne >.<

I don't usually get all "I'm not crying, you're crying." in a zombie-type movie.
But Simone Landers is giving me the feelz. What a clever little actress as Thoomi.
She's going to be such brilliant talented actress. She's already excellent in her first role here. She's blessed that movie with real heart.
