Ordis is fluster
SimOrdis Thoughts
You know, I've come a long way in my opinion of SimOrdis as a ship and even just Simaris as a character.
I won't lie. When I first started the game, I hated both. I thought Simaris was just a pompous self-important ass with no consideration for anyone else, and that SimOrdis would be a manipulative and toxic relationship at best. It wasn't until I got deeper into exploring their characters and their dynamic that my opinion started to change.
I've already explained my thoughts on Simaris's behavior, with evidence, in this post. As a summary: I believe he's not purposefully malicious or even trying to manipulate Ordis in New Strange. More that his offer was a genuine one, and he was stung when Ordis turned against him because he was too callous about the Operator. But Simaris, as someone who doesn't deal with emotions well, reacted badly to the situation. Octavia's Anthem more or less proved that he did care about Ordis, at least enough to risk infection by Hunhow to go personally try to get him back (since he seemed to think Suda was dead and gone). And his defensiveness at the end of the quest suggests that it was not for purely practical reasons.
Simaris's less confrontational actions towards Ordis in New Strange definitely suggest romantic undertones, even if they're in his own unique way of expressing it. Offering co-ownership of Sanctuary is a very big gesture for Simaris to make. That would be like Ordis offering joint custody of the Operator. And we have no reason to believe that Simaris was lying or trying to trick Ordis when he offered this. Except in the case where Ordis backed out of their proposed partnership - and dismissing Simaris's offered gifts that went along with it - Simaris has never failed to deliver what he promised. And that, he failed because Ordis rejected his offer. Not because he himself rescinded it.
So, using all that as the basis of their dynamic, there's one other issue to solve before a ship can really happen. Ordis in game currently is still very mad at Simaris for all he's said and done. And rightfully so, to be fair. But the ending of Octavia's Anthem opened up a possibility for Simaris to grow and change. If, in some timeline post-Octavia, the two of them were to sit down and talk about what had happened between them in the past, they could possibly reconcile their differences.
And that's where SimOrdis comes in.
The emotional factors are already there; Simaris and Ordis have never had an interaction where they weren't reacting strongly to each other's presence. The two of them have obvious chemistry and mutual admiration/desire based on what interactions they've had. Even if they are angry with each other in Octavia's Anthem, they still have a very emotional dynamic, and Simaris is still trying to warn Ordis not to endanger himself. It's not too difficult to imagine that if they could stop yelling at each other for a few minutes and just talk, there's a real possibility for a romantic relationship dynamic. One where Simaris tries to remedy his mistakes in the past, be more understanding and considerate, and grow as a person for the sake of Ordis. And where Ordis maybe learns to see Simaris for what he is underneath his abrasive outer shell.
And Ordis's Operator? Still can be a part of the equation. Simaris never shows anything but admiration for the Operator's skills as a Hunter. He's only dismissive of them in regards to them being much shorter lived than Cephalons, and eventually dying. Perhaps if he spent more time getting to know the Operator on a personal level - say, by being in a relationship with their Ship Cephalon and spending more time around them - his opinions could change. If Simaris is capable of growing and learning enough to be decent to Ordis, who's to say he couldn't do the same in regards to the Operator, and learn to value them beyond using them as a hunting tool?
Granted, this is all working under the assumption that Simaris is capable of changing his ways. Because if he didn't, then no, I don't think the relationship would truly be healthy. But, I like to believe in second chances and the capacity of people to grow and learn, so combining that with the evidence presented in game, I think he is capable. And that SimOrdis could really blossom into something special and unique if they were given the chance to reconcile and reach a compromise. They may still fight, sure, but all couples fight sometimes. As long as they worked to really understand each other and talk through their disagreements, I believe they could make it work.
I came to realize all this slowly over time, and honestly? I fell in love with the ship when I did. I've done my best to try and write SimOrdis with all this in mind, and to portray him evolving into somebody Ordis deserves, who can make Ordis happy without forcing him to sacrifice his Operator. Because I think this ship deserves a chance, and a portrayal that allows it to reach its full potential.
I want to see my favorite Cephalon boys happy. And I think they have a real chance at being happy with each other.
TL;DR: With some development and character growth, SimOrdis stands the chance to be a really great ship.

you can thank @cephalonghost for requesting me to post it here
// I was told I should draw Ordan and my human Simaris in the same pic and let’s be real this is about how them meeting would go
SImaris is beginning to understand that sometimes Ordis is just too tired to function and that’s okay.
And then he says something stupid like, “Hey why can’t you do this with your Tenno, this is not my primary function you broken little shi-”
yes i absolutely see ordis as a lot smaller than the other two GIANT BEAUTIES. This is definitely not to say that he is any less beautiful, in fact, I’d like to tell you how much he means to me. In this essay i will be-
// “Is that a knife in your pocket or are you just happy to - oh. Oh that’s acutally a knife.”
// Finally finished the kind of SimOrdis sketch I did forever ago in which Simaris meets Ordan - now in full color!
