Sometimes, I sew things. A lot of those things are costume or cosplay related and most fail to quite hit the mark. A lot of the time, when using actual patterns (and not just trying to figure it out and abandon it quickly afterwards), I tend to just go off of my measurements v the suggested size (instead of sizing to the finished garment). So, in this case, I decided to do a mockup for Simplicity 8431, or DC Bombshells' Black Canary (not that she's my favorite DC comics lady, nor is her Bombshells outfit my favorite, as both of those spots very strongly belong to Catwoman). I do have to do different sizes for the top and skirt, so I cut them out to an 18 and 20, with the expectation to have to alter something somewhere. Well... the top (mostly) fits. I'm not too fussy about finishing techniques or interfacing (as this was just a muslin), and I'm content with the fit on everything... except the sleeve band. It's almost far too tight, as it's uncomfortable on my arms and doesn't allow for the sleeves to actually move on my arms. :T thankfully, I believe adding about an inch (maybe an 1.5") to the sleeve band will solve that problem, which might take down some of the sleeve poof (which i wouldn't mind in the grand scheme of things, honestly). also, the seam connecting the top of the blouse to the midriff sections is making it sit weird, but that's not the major problem here right now. I was, of course, fitting it to how it will actually be worn, but it's also nice to know that i can fit a thin top under for modesty if i get too uncomfortable at a con or something. I mostly just left my tanktop on for modesty's sake here.
