I really feel you on the whole “oblivious” trope. The amount of times this is applied to wwx aggravates me. And how all the characters are trying to get wangxian together. I've got no problems answering it! The reason why I hesitate to really bring it up is that i find anger to be a really contagious emotion, especially on the internet. didn't really want people to get mad about something I said. That being said, negativity below.Â
 Basically all it really boils down to is that I have mdzs fandom burnout. Every topic that interested the fandom, I somehow managed to see so much discourse and fandom policing about it in the fringes that at some point I literally just started getting mad at everything I found vaguely wrong.Â
 Eventually that started extending into things I used to just not mind, or even agreed with at some point. Specifically the fandom interest in wangxian. I guess I just felt that, after a while, the discussion lacked nuance? There always only seemed to be three types of things in scope: 1. they love each other so much 2. omg lwj gave up so much for wwx..... thats so sad..... 3. why is wwx such an oblivious idiotÂ
 Anyway I used to only hate the third thing, but now I hate all of them. Shut up about how much they love each other. Shut up about them sharing one braincell or some shit. Shut up shut up shut up. My wangxian aesthetic/any ship aes tbh is Cool and Confident and Competent. (Needless to say this is why I started to drift toward JC/LWJ, which I imagine as an absolute unit of a relationship)Â
 Like someone could literally say to me "omg.... oh my god.... wangxian is so pure...... they love each other so much tsym for writing this" and like, even though i appreciate the sentiment and agree with it more than I dont, I'd get so annoyed that I honestly felt more like replying "dude, stfu about the bullshit, stop reading my fics i hate you" than a simple "Thank you!"Â
 tldr: when u start getting mad at people who took the time to compliment your writing, its time to pull out.
But OMG. Can you imagine how much that verse's JGY must've appreciated JC calling him "my best person," how JC didn't abandon him after his admission. You can also see the how JC's more confident w/o the constant comparisons from his parents. So many ways if the Wens do attack, though. JGY could be to JC what he was to NMJ, or put that lying skill to use. And oh god, what if the truth comes out and JFM is alive to know it... So much potential drama! THIS IS SO GOOD. the xuanwu cave would go very differently since Meng Yao wouldn’t put himself in harm’s way to block mianmian’s face from being burned, and on that tangent, he wouldn’t stay behind to help out lan wangji either. lan wangji’s dead here whoops.Â
lan xichen may also die, because i got zero clue who’s gonna hide him when he flees. use your imagination and offer suggestions to me, kids.
because of the the first paragraph, the lotus pier may or may not burn down. meng yao won’t aggravate wen chao like wwx, but cloud recesses burned down and they literally didn’t do anything but exist, so they’d be targeted sooner or later. it just depends on how late in the timeline it is. maybe they’d go after lanling jin sect or qinghe nie first, and once one of those was successfully burnt the world would be like “ok so they’re targeting literally any big sect, time to wage war” and they’d never get to yunmeng jiang.
but on the off chance that they DO go after lanlingjin first, god i hope it burns down, jin guangshan dies and only his son survives, escapes to yunmeng jiang to seek refuge as per his mother’s last orders. then character development for him + maybe earlier onset of “jiang yanli is so nice” + lotus pier exists + JZX and MY can INTERACT
as for the actual sunshot campaign, I honestly don’t remember enough/am not good enough with war tactics to think of a way for the wen sect to lose without MY doing his part as a spy and killing WRH. but at the same time i don’t know whether he would in this AU? he doesn’t seem desperate enough. i do know, however, that two very important factors are missing in this AU that made canon work: one is the spy, the other is the demonic cultivation wild card.
so maybe this is when og wwx comes in? idk, but this war needs something to tip the balance. he’s just walking down BSSR’s mountain in the middle of the war without a clue about world affairs, and all of a sudden everyone wants him on their side. he isn’t a demonic cultivator (or maybe he is, maybe he and BSSR developed a very safe and just as powerful version of it together), but maybe he’s like, uber strong in this AU. *shrugs*
wwx and wwx!MY meeting could go a few ways. one is that og WWX doesn’t go by Wei Ying anymore. It’s conceivable by the time BSSR found him, he’d already completely forgotten his name, and it’s not like she would know either, just that he’s CSSR’s son. But MY introduces himself like “my mother was CSSR, she was also BSSR’s student” because he has to keep up pretenses and WWX does a big “oh geez.”Â
but the more he looks, it’s not like MY is doing anything bad with the name, and when he finds out he was picked up off the streets he’s like “well it makes sense that he would use the situation to his advantage, and he seems like a good person. ill just let him have the name, whatever. isn’t like i’m using it.”Â
other one is that he introduces himself to the cultivation world as wei ying and things would normally go to hell for MY, but it’s wartime and honestly everyone has ten million other things to worry about so it’s limited to an awkward conversation between MY and JFM. JFM mopes a bit and is really pissed at himself for being so stupid and falling for a little kid’s lie and is totally upset at MY in general, but then Yu Ziyuan smacks him for a bit like “You fool, you still brought him up and raised him, you’re really going to turn your back on him right now?? Also why are you moping about this, we are in the middle of a war” so he gets his ass together real fast. He probably never treats MY with as much affection as before though.
either way, wwx sides with the four sects cause you know, he’s a good person and helps beat the wen sect somehow. don’t ask for details
post-war, a whole lot of plotless chengyao, probably. someone out there asked if there would be sidepairing wangxian, to which i say you know what? no. lan wangji’s dead. wei wuxian is now a free bachelor, he could probably have a fun threesome with JC and MY and make continuous jokes about selfcest the entire time, i dont know

This one’s difficult to answer, cause like. The answer should be yes. I’m still very invested in that fic and pairing (if not MDZS as a whole), and there’s honestly a good amount of unpublished writing that’s already been done. However, I’m not really interested in writing in the MDZS universe right now.
Basically, I want that fic to complete itself so I can read it and enjoy its completeness, but I don’t want to write it right now. I’m not sure when I will want to. Not discontinued, just… let me focus on other fics right now.
I read a zhancheng fic the other day and it’s really good!! You’re so lucky, it’s gifted to you!! They said this first chapter is setup for a shippier chapter in the future. Where do you think they can take zhancheng given where they left off?? Where would you take it next?? It reads to me like the kids are the thing that might bring them together.

ok so I started writing break the scouter having no real plan for jc/lwj other than that they would both be fucked up after wwx died, they both had little babies to take care of, and mayb continuously pointing out these similarities would lead to something, or at least be a decent starting point.
this fic definitely had the same idea, which is great because boy am i ready to see other interpretations. You’ve got so much to work with, but it requires a lot of effort because lord almighty are they difficult to write together. One of the things I’m pretty amazed about in the fic is that… they actually managed to explain their feelings about WWX to one another properly??? I know JC went the tsundere route in the beginning with “who would ever miss him” but it’s written in a very clear way he’s being a tsundere and doesn’t actually mean it. He even gave Chenqing to LWJ in the end!! They both understand that the other cares about WWX!!!
In comparison, I’m not expecting my LWJ and JC to fully talk about their problems… ever? I can’t seem to get them to talk to each other when they’re in the budding romance/preslash stage?? i cringe when i spend 3 days writing three sentences of them talking?? This is a difference talent in writing dialogue i suppose. im in awe
As to where it should go, I assume kids and stuff, like you say. But even moreso I think the fact that chenqing has changed owners might really affect things? JC gives it to LWJ because “it might help” finding WWX through some sort of residual energy or something, which might trigger an early onset of WWX revival??? who knows anything about cultivation though. anyway i think they might work together a lot trying to bring wwx back???
Another thing is that it’s not a threesome fic, but author does say “i ship zhancheng not at the expense of WWX once he’s back” in the beginning so I guess the fic will end before then???
