Given the recent events in this community, it’s a bit upsetting at least for me that the main times free CC creators get a big amount of support or promotion is when they are the target of paywaller bullshit (like the pose thefts issues last year, and yesterday’s instance of paywaller bullshit). Then there is lots of promotion of the free creator’s CC, and people saying they followed them ‘out of spite’.
I like that the community was willing to get behind free creators and call out scummy paywall antics, paywaller theft and paywallers ac using free creators of stealing when they obviously and evidently didn’t, but I believe we need to start supporting people for the sake of supporting them, and not just out of spite or to ‘dunk on’ people. Put your love for free CC before your hatred of paywallers and hopefully we might have a shot at retaining those free creators. Don’t wait until they’re targets of shitty behaviour before promoting their cc and gushing about them and their creations!
Before someone takes this personally , this is not an attack on anyone’s character and it’s not bad to support people out of spite or hatred for the person that screwed them over, but I just wish Tumblr was motivated by something other than spite, you know?
