You know, I found The Sims 4 more frustrating than fun. That's why I quit playing.
You couldn't throw a party without it being a minigame that you were likely going to fail. And then your sims would be sad and depressed when their party sucked.
The graphics were too cartoony.
No toddlers and pools in the original release????
Aliens were always my favorite part of The Sims universe but even that let me down. They came up with this weird mechanic where "pure" aliens couldn't wear clothng unless you bought it in a store . . . which meant you had to buy all their outfits for every category, and it was so ridiculous that my aliens just kept their disquises . . . which also sucked. Because it defeats the purpose of them looking like cool aliens????
Kids always come home from school wiped out of energy, so they can't do their homework. Also, having to do extra crap to get an A was frustrating if you couldn't yet afford a telescope, etc. There are mods for both of these mechanics, but still . . . annoying, af.
They basically took away the things Sims veterans loved and added a bunch of unnecessary crap to make some things that used to be fun and easy a little harder. . . .
The Sims 4 is the only installment I don't just love to pieces. I suppose I'm easy to please (all evidence to the contrary), because I loved 1,2 & 3, with 2 being my absolute favorite.
If 2 wasn't so old, I'd reinstall it and play it again. But it's such an old game that a lot of really cool mods don't even exist for it anymore. So I'm just left with this sort of nostalgia while I wait for a new video game that captures my heart like so many of my old favorites.
