New building technique and building series

Learned how much more efficient it is to build and decorate on smaller more detailed lots and connect them together for an overall bigger “lot”. Like the Zoo section of Fairhaven. I’m going to test this with a shopping mall. I really want a more detailed mall, I always worry I’ll add too many decorations that’ll overload the lot. I’ve tested this technique with other lots like a museum, it had a paint gallery souvenir shop and cafe, statue gallery and sculpting class with a wine and paint date class course, a planetarium with the floating planet lights in a blackened room and walk about, and an exhibition gallery with dinosaurs and cave men sculptures. It turned out amazing and was so pretty and detailed, I didn’t have to sacrifice space for realism, and everything loaded up like a normal EA lot, the group of small lots together allowed me to just walk right over onto the next lot and because they were so close they loaded up together but not as if it were a large cc packed lot (sims 3 is weird how you have to trick the game into running better lol).

I’m still very interested in continuing my For the Realm Challenge medieval playthrough, I’ve backed up that sims 3 folder so all I have to do is copy it back over to continue the series. But I got a building itch for more modern themes which is where I’m most comfortable. And I’ve been experimenting with smaller lots to make a larger build come together in general so I’m going to get into that a lot more, I’ve just been so inspired lately!

Weirdly I’ve had the most fun in empty small to medium sized worlds. I truly love the NRAAS Travelers mod making it possible for me to play what I’ve created in every save file. And these are so small and optimized I can have 20 of those files in one save without issues (I’ve done it for years).

So I’ll be doing a couple building projects and any of you are welcome to join me, I’ll pressure myself to record the speedbuilds for youtube I want more speed builds on there anyway:

First Project: Sims 3 Snowy Escape.

Many people do not know about Possom’s worlds enough and it kills me. These are the best small vacation worlds you could ever have, and Possom builds using no cc in a way where EA should’ve built there worlds and lots. So even if you don’t want to revamp everything, you can keep what you see and still have a good time on those lots.

I’ll be using this world specifically,

For the snowy resort. I plan to make this whole world a Japanese inspired Ski Resort like in the sims 4. The top left part will be the ski activity itself with a large sloped hill.

I’ll remove the other two large lots and make smaller ones.

A base camp check-in log cabin (For NPCS), and a

realistic looking winter themed Hotel.

A Hot springs themed Spa, possibly on the little island nearby.

A mini Christmas themed village festival, with a custom role Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and elves.

And a little Japanese themed residential village for the locals (which I will create for this world).

The village festival will have two lots across from each other of gift shops, lights that run across, the other two lots will have an ice skating rink, and ice themed park. Will be focused on screenshots and functionality.

Silverhollow - I’ve built a custom Uni world in this world before and LOVED it!

I’m going to recreate it again with all I’ve learned from building and decorating.

This world will have realistic looking dorms. Open Uni Rabbitholes. This will be a college themed build, everything in this town will be about the world. I liked to give my sims options on where to go to college, more importantly I like having my sims visit the various college worlds as a college tour, sometimes with their classmates.

These are my thought layouts for the future builds in this world for inspo of anyone else who wants to give this project a try.

KK Dorm Build? Means I might make this world a Korean inspired university campus as I really enjoyed this video for a Girl’s Dorm Room. I like the idea of my sims doing study Abroad so this is a way to make this more functional.

Boroughsburg.

I’ve built this world up before but I rushed it and wanted to upload my lots for the community quickly since so many people wanted to just play in the world and not build. This time around I want to take my time with each and every lot that I create, I made some select good ones that I recall but my architecture wasn’t where I wanted it to be, I didn’t recolor everything the way I wanted to, and too many clutter things were out of place for my personal taste now. I want to clean up my decorating style and tell stories with my builds now which takes times, so I will build this world again with much more attention to detail and no time limit. To see my previous builds in this worlds just follow my #mybuild tags on my page. You’ll see what I mean, I was going for a certain taste in aesthetic but I didn’t have the curated cc I do now, nor the time. So these lots will be much more touched up even if one lot takes me weeks (like many of your favorite builders they will literally take weeks on one lot).

The trick is to take breaks if you run out of inspo, creativity and idea’s, come back to it, what helps me is getting pinterest pics of the kind of lot I’m going for, I run out of gas a lot less.

I used to build and decorate as I went along but the shell ends up looking really strange and out of place. I’m going to create the shell first. I suck at coloring the exterior walls so I will challenge myself to get more innovative. I also suck at decorating the exterior, not as strong in landscaping and terrain painting, so I will especially focus on this. I’m not worried at all about the interior as I’ve learned if I’ve got a strong and inspirational shell as a base those are my best builds.
