The princesses of the castle give their parents a lot of grief sometimes, especially the elders, as Cassandra tries to find her daughters husbands. Luckily, Margaret is smitten with a nobleman and looks to be engaged soon. Later, Gerold and Daisy take advantage of a moment alone.

On his deathbed, William confesses to his son that he has fathered two illegitimate children - one is the child that his brother Cassian is raising. The other is a young man from the village, Gerold, who is currently training to be a knight.

Cassandra gives birth to her first child, a girl named Isabella.

Gerold visits his parents and his two new twin siblings and continues to train at the knights stronghold.

Gerold continues his studies, and his training. The older knights grow tired of what they seem to think is a hormone-fueled anger in Gerold and send him to the brothel, to “make a man out of him” and to calm him down.

At the castle, the family spends a lovely Christmas together.

The royal family has their portrait taken: King William, Queen Anabella, Prince Alaric, and the princesses Margaret, Caroline, and Katharine. Shortly after, Alaric and Cassandra marry, and an elderly and ailing William passes down the throne to Alaric.
