Sims 2 Livret de Famille
Recently I've made a post about a small promotional book for the Sims 2 that I was able to get and now I’m showing you some scans I’ve made with my translation of the most interesting parts.
Some things from this book surprised me. If some or all of them were already known, then that’s fine, it was still worth sharing :)
After a small introduction featuring the game’s milestones (Sims 1), its expansion packs and special editions, the book starts with Will Wright’s small interview in which he tells us about the game, its cool new features, differences between this new part and Sims 1 and what to expect in the future (he says nothing precise as one would expect).
And then we come to this page:
Highlighted text in red, upper right corner says:
“Moving out. The objects that sims worked hard to acquire stay with them as long as possible. If one of your characters moves out, they take with them the furniture and all other objects that belonged to them...Even after divorce!”
Uh-huh...
Then the highlighted text below it says:
“Candy-party. Don’t even dare to think about it! Only adult or elder sims can have a baby or be intimate! But there are other unique social life options available for each life stage, including teens and children. For example, throwing wicked parties!”
Next page. Highlighted text on the left (on a green background):
“Secondary residence. Your sim can have, if there’s enough money, a secondary residence. Even better, each new home has a choice of housing your family members: grandparents, cousins, uncles and aunts...”
Interesting...
Highlighted text on the right page, up there:
“...the only solution to this is physical activity! By doing karate or working out, your sim is building a body of their dreams!”
Karate...
The text under it says:
“Luxury, tranquility and voluptuousness. When a family gets bigger, the size of the house gets bigger too. In the Sims 2 one can acquire huge properties, under condition that one has enough means. Properties can be three stories high”.
Eventually they made 5 floors a maximum.
Highlighted text on the right page:
“Children can cook. A piece of advice: they improve their cooking skills by studying. Real chefs!”
But they don’t cook in game...
Highlighted text on the right page:
“Parents play an essential role in educating little children... Teach them go to bed, potty train them, feed them...”
Can’t teach them go to bed...
This is followed by a funny test called “What kind of sim are you?” that results in three possible aspirations: romance, power (👀) and family.
Highlighted text on the left page:
“Even if it’s still impossible to follow your sims at work, there are certain careers that can be made at home.”
Do they mean painting and...that’s all? In a base game.
Highlighted text on the right says:
“Your sim will certainly have some quality time in magnificent villas, secondary residences enjoying luxury, tranquility and voluptuousness that are available to them.”
Again, certain “secondary residences” are mentioned...
And that’s basically it.
I’ve scanned the whole book and uploaded it to SFS. The quality is not the best but it’s a hard cover book so little could be done here without damaging it.
If you’d like to see it in its integrity, you can get it here.
This week I’ve acquired an interesting object related to the Sims 2. It’s a small promotional book called “Sims 2 livret de famille” and is stated to be an exclusivity of one of the biggest french supermarkets. It contains a bunch of beta screenshots AND some intruiguing info about the game... I asked the seller I bought it from for additional info as clealy it was sold (or came in some kind of bundle) before the game actually came out (or right at the same time). I’ll post scans of it and translation of the most interesting parts a little bit later.
@l-1-z-a, might be interesting for Sims 2 beta hunters forum? ;)
I have another Sims 2 collectible.
This is Santa which was included in a french limited edition game bundle. It's rather small - app. 10 cm.
There are other collectibles of this genre, I hope to get them all one day :)
My most valuable Sims 2 collectible 💖
Another rare Sims 2 promo item I own - an inflatable plumbob!
Got my hands on something I've never seen before and I’m so excited!
Two exclusive Sims 1 DVDs released in France. No idea what's on them, looks like some kind of promotional clips/films? I tried googling but found nothing.
