Tala's Anger
Dear Diary,
Take a deep breath, Tala, and write. Ok, here goes. It was the night Gray and I told one another we loved each other. As we were cuddling by the fire at the end of the night, my little pup Bear started explosively barking. And then we looked up and saw....him.
It was none other than the werewolf who bit me! I would always remember those cold, pale, dead eyes. The next words the man uttered hit me in my soul. As he turned to Gray he said, "Hello, nephew, I see you have something of mine." As his words slowly sank in, the confusion hit. Gray....?
As I took a step forward to look at Gray, the wolf reacted before I could blink. He snarled and he stepped menancingly towards me, raising his hand to hit me. Before I knew it, Gray was launching himself at the wolf with a roar. In a burst of speed, the wolf hit me, knocking me to the ground. Then, without so much as a pause, the wolf grabbed Gray by the throat, lifting him off the ground!!
In my stunned haze, I tried to focus on staying conscious. I heard Bear barking and I looked over with my heart in my throat as the wolf lifted Gray into the air like he weighed no more than a feather. As I heard Gray start to choke and sputter trying to get free, I was sure I was going to lose him. I told myself to get up but my head was still swimming.
The wolf finally let go of Gray's throat and threw him to the ground. Standing over him, he started to laugh. "You're weak nephew. But I suppose I would expect nothing less from my late brother's son." His gaze turned to me, and he stared at me with an expression I had only seen once before by the hunters who had found me and hurt me when I was a girl.
As the fear crystalized, I tried desperately to pull myself up. Raising my head to look into his eyes, I simply said, "NEVER..."!
His laughter stopped, and his eyes narrowed. "You belong to me, bitch" he spat. "I gave you a wolf's life. Power. Strength. I bit so many bitches and they all died. But you...you are special. You will give me what I've always wanted. A purebred pack...!"
I slowly dragged myself to my feet, looking at Gray. He was trying to recover, his gasps for breath slowly subsiding. Bear was by his side, whimpering in fear but also determined to protect Gray. The fear and anger I felt in that moment were new to me. The rage building, I looked at the wolf. "I'd rather die", I spat back at him, growing.
Letting loose a loud laugh, he simply said. "Oh, my dear. You're much too valuable. See you soon...Wifey."
And with that, the wolf turned and walked away. I dragged myself to where Gray was recovering. Wordlessly, we hugged one another. I knew at that moment that my life would never be the same.
