Imagine falling in love with your f/o who is a bit sketchy, but they're still all around a good guy. However, one day u find out they're the villain, the traitor. You're conflicted. You need to oppose them because you're not evil like them, right? Ah, but they're the only one who has loved you... And they express that they truly regret having to betray you, and understand if you want to leave. But you can't. Your f/o feels guilty about exploiting your love like this, taking advantage of your weakness, corrupting your innocence. But they don't want you to see you cry because of your conflicting emotions, so they just accept you into their arms despite their own guilt, and shame.
