Ok since you like both ajin and homestuck, what do you think of the possible decapitation parallels, especially in line of the recent meme?
ok i did mention that in passing before but its interesting that kei, who is theoretically also a prince of heart, has a vastly different view to decapitation than dirk, also a prince of heart. so clarifying the role of the prince player, they destroy heart/emotion/self, even in themselves
i think that dirk probably takes this further than kei does, and dirk is arguably less healthy as a person than kei is. he hates himself and his flaws in a way that kei doesnt; it probably lends to his willingness to have himself decapitated. hes aware of all his flaws while simultaneously being aware that they are (apparently) an unchangeable part of himself, so his reaction is pretty much ‘well this has gone fucking pear-shaped, i guess youll just have to dec
on the other hand kei only went so far as to destroy his emotions, favoring the use of rationality and mind and basically outright ignoring his inner self and desires in the process. despite this he undeniably holds his Self above all else - he fears the loss of his self and existence, he isnt as introspective as dirk; he doesnt think about things like Really wanting this or having a Terrible Flaw; he only crushes it if it suggests weakness (emotion, basically) and applies a rational explanation. in that sense i suppose his Te is a lot stronger than dirks but his Fi is. a lot we a k er
ok i didnt answer the question. i Re a lly hope ?? kei doesnt get decapitated holyy f uc k?? like look if dirk was in keis position. i have zero doubt that hes more likely to accept decapitation than kei is. i guess dirk has a massive death wish that kei just doesnt have l i k e. decapitation in both situations is framed as ‘the ultimate loss of self’, and dirk gets his ass decapitated more often because hes a chaotic prince (ie will destroy things you dont need to destroy and will also eradicate his own being). on the other hand homestuck doesnt have the whole philosophical definition of identity problem that ajin does (like… dream selves?? MULTIPLE dream selves?? no one?? question it??) and maybe im misremembering but i think. headless bodies in homestuck dont grow new heads
