Johnny’s family garage had become infested with cockroaches.
This wouldn't have been a problem if the garage wasn't Johnny's main source of income and, oh yeah, where he lived.
Fortunately, Johnny's dad had saved money in case of catastrophes like this, so calling, scheduling, and paying an exterminator and/or fumigator wasn't a problem.
Problem was, as mentioned before, that the garage was where Johnny lived, and according to the fumigator, animals and bug bombs dont mix well. So, Johnny needed somewhere to reside for at least 2 days before he could be allowed back into his home again.
As he drove to the New Moon Theater in his dad's old truck, Johnny was wondering how he was going to sleep tonight, or rather where he was going to sleep tonight. As far as he knew (A/N: and as far as we know) his dad didn't own a house, or even an apartment, and neither did any of his uncles, so that left Johnny with no place to stay, except for maybe...
That's it! He could ask one of his fellow New Moon Theater members!
Johnny pulled up to the back of the New Moon Theater, fully confident that his plan would work.
Johnny entered through the back door of the New Moon Theater with his usual smile and optimistic attitude, and saw the rest of the New Moon gang just chilling backstage, waiting for Buster to give them some direction.
"Hey, everyone." Johnny greeted them all cheerfully.
"Hi, sweetie!" Rosita, the mother pig with enough kids to make Michelle Doggar jealous.
"H-hi, Johnny." Meena, the shy, young cow (A/N: that's what female elephants are called) with a soulful voice.
"Hey, Johnny." Ash, the porcupine who was so rockin that you could swear she had Joan Jag in her blood somehow.
"Hey, Bubbles." Mike, the jazzy mouse who would die before giving somebody a genuine compliment that wasn't backhanded. It's a wonder as to how he was able to get a girlfriend.
"Guten Tag, Johnny!" Gunter, the german dancing pig who practically bled excitement and enthusiasm.
Johnny was proud to call all of these people his friends. However, the issue at the moment was that he had no idea who to ask to stay with.
Gunter? No, Johnny couldn't handle that much enthusiasm and excitement for 2 days.
Ash? No. It's doubtful that she would want a boy in her apartment again, even if the one currently in question had always treated her with kindness.
Meena? No, her grandfather could be very overprotective, and Johnny wouldn't like feeling like he's being watched constantly for 2 days.
Mike? No way in hell! You would be lucky if that mouse offered to share his coffee with you rather than his own home.
Rosita? Well, maybe... nah, she’s got enough people to take care of at home, it'd be wrong for Johnny to add himself to her workload. Still, Rosita had said that Johnny was welcome anytime in her home, so just maybe she would say yes. Might as well go for it.
"Rosita? Can I talk to you for a minute?" Johnny asked, a little nervous.
Rosita, being a mom, noticed Johnny's nervousness right away and replied "Sure Johnny, is something wrong?"
"Well," Johnny started as he and Rosita walked to a part of backstage where they could talk a little more privately. "You see, me and me Dads place has got cockroaches."
Rosita winced in sympathy. "Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that, honey."
"Yeah, thanks." Johnny said before continuing. "You see, I've got no place to stay at while it's being fumigated, so..." Johnny trailed off as his eyes began to dart away from Rosita.
"What? What is it, Johnny?" Rosita asked, reaching up to put her hand on Johnny's chin to make him look her in the eyes.
"Uh... could I stay with you, Norman, and the kids? For just a couple days!" Johnny asked, extremely nervous.
Rosita chuckled. "Oh, sweetheart, dont be so nervous. Of course you can stay!" Answered the sweet sow as she hugged Johnny to wash all of his nervousness away.
"R-really? I dont wanna be a bother." Johnny said, touched.
Rosita poked the young gorillas chest. "Now, you listen here, Johnathan Marcus Egerton, whenever you have come over you have never been a bother to me or Norman. Not to the mention the fact that the kids love you to bits! You are coming to stay with me whether you like it or not, is that clear?" Rosita stated, being playfully stern.
"Yes, ma'am." Johnny replied, chuckling.
"Good. Now let's get back to rehearsal, I think I hear Buster coming."
After rehearsal was over, Rosita followed Johnny back to his home to get his essentials before the fumigator/exterminator would show up later that night. These essentials were several change of clothes, a few CDs, and Johnny's skateboard. Afterwards, Johnny left his truck in the garage and went home with Rosita in her giant family van.
A chorus of 25 piglets cheered as Johnny entered Rositas home with her.
"Hi lads, hows it-woah!" Johnny slightly lost his balance as at least half of Rositas piglets began to jump on him and use him as a moving jungle gym.
"Kids, get off of him! That's no way to act towards a guest!" Rosita called sternly.
All the piglets "aww"ed as they began to climb off of Johnny.
"Its alright Rosita, they were just having fun." Johnny chuckled as he dusted himself off.
"Well, honey, that kind of fun might be okay when you're the babysitter, but not when you're the guest." Rosita explained.
"Hey! What's this I hear about a guest?" Norman asked, sounding slightly annoyed as he entered the living room.
The hardworking dad of 25 then immediately noticed the young gorilla, whose head was only a couple feet away from touching the ceiling.
"Oh, hey Johnny, how you doin'"? Norman asked, his tone now changed.
"Doing fine, Mr. Witherspoon, how 'bout you?" Johnny replied.
"Great. What're doing here though, kiddo?" Norman asked, changing the subject.
"Norman, honey," Rosita started, knowing there was probably going to be a difficult conversation ahead "Johnny's here because hes going to be staying here with us for a few days."
Norman stared at his wife for a few seconds before looking at Johnny.
"We dont have any spare beds. Do you mind sleeping on the couch?" Norman asked.
"Not at all!" Johnny said, a smile still on his face.
"Well then, alright, you can stay." Norman decided.
"Oh thank you, Mr. Witherspoon! Thank you, Rosita! I promise you won't regret this!" Johnny cried as he grabbed the porcine couple and pulled them in for a tight embrace.
No problem, Johnny/sweetie." Norman and Rosita said, grunting from the strength and tightness of Johnny's hug.
After Johnny let the couple go, Norman stretched and looked at the clock.
"Well, 10:00 PM. Time to put the piglets to bed. Come on, honey." Norman said and he and his wife started to walk to the first of their piglets several bedrooms.
"I can help!" Johnny volunteered, wanting to pay Rosita and Norman back for their generosity.
"No, no, sweetheart. You just sit on the couch and get comfortable. Norman and I will handle this." Rosita gently said.
"We'll be right back, honey. Sit tight." Rosita said as she and Norman turned to do the job tucking their piglets in.
Johnny then decided that he might as well get ready for bed too, so he took off his shirt, jeans and shoes, leaving him in only his boxers. The young gorilla then went over to the couch, grabbed the blanket that was draped over the top of it, and covered himself as he laid down on the couch.
The couch was surprisingly very comfortable, and Johnny found himself almost falling asleep, before he heard someone enter the living room.
With his eyes closed, he used his ears to make out the hushed voices of Rosita and Norman.
"Well, looks like hes asleep." Norman said. "Guess that means we should hit the hay too, honey." Norman concluded.
"Oh, okay." Rosita said. "Just let me do this one before I join you."
"Go ahead, babe. Dont be too long." Norman said as he walked back towards their bedroom.
With that, Johnny sensed Rosita come closer toward him, lean over and, much to his surprise, kiss him on the cheek.
"Good night, Johnny, I love you." Rosita whispered.
Johnny's black fur hid his blush as Rosita walked away to join Norman in bed.
Johnny hadn't really realized before then, but thanks to Rosita, he finally had a mother figure in his life again. His real mother had died when he was a toddler so he was far too young to remember anything about her, and hw really only got information about her from his dad, although his dad didn't really like to talk about Johnnys mom often.
But with Rosita as a mother figure, Johnny couldn't be happier, and he felt extremely lucky to have her in his life.
It was the next day, and Johnny was busy showing the piglets all the tricks he could on his skateboard.
"Go, Johnny, go! Go, Johnny, go!" The piglets chanted.
Johnny was smiling as the piglets cheered for him, but made the mistake of taking glance at them, causing him to not look where he was going, trip and wipe out. This wipeout caused him to cut his knee on the sidewalk.
All of the piglets winced in pain at Johnny's accident, before they all called for their mother to come help.
Rosita ran out of the front door, her hands damp from washing dishes. "What's wrong, ki-Oh, Johnny!" She noticed the young gorilla on the sidewalk, holding his knee as it bled.
"He fell, Mama!" Casper explained.
" I can see that, honey." Rosita replied as she helped Johnny off of the ground.
"Now you kids stay right here, I'm gonna go patch him up." Rosita explained as she helped Johnny limp into the house.
In the kitchen, Rosita was tending to Johnnys wound.
"Ouch!" Johnny cringed as disinfectant was sprayed on his wound.
"Yeah, sorry!" Rosita said, sympathetically.
"Its fine, I was the one who got hurt, I'm sorry for taking your time."
"Oh, Johnny, dont apologize! It's my job to take care of you. You're like a son to me." Rosita said sweetly.
Johnny smiled. Then, the young gorilla had a thought.
"Hm?" Rosita replied as she finished dressing Johnny's wound.
C-c-can I..." Johnny started nervously.
"Can you what, honey?" Rosita asked.
Rosita seemed to freeze as she processed Johnny's question.
"I-it's just that you're pretty much the only mother figure I've ever had in my life and-"
Johnny was interrupted by Rositas warm and tight embrace.
"Oh, baby," cried a teary eyed Rosita "of course you can! I'd be honored to be your mom!"
Johnny quickly hugged Rosita back, overjoyed at the fact that he finally had a mother figure in his life again.
"I love you, Johnny." Rosita said warmly.
