I had the title for my new album, The Social Animals, years before it was recorded. As I worked on demos I would mock up different album cover ideas on my phone. I’m still trying to find them all since it was a few phones back, but dug this one up today. I dropped this idea pretty fast. This album has been a long time in the making, I would say twenty years if you are counting cosmic connections. Some things take time and there is so much beauty and sorrow and laughter and fear along the journey. I’m grateful this album is coming out now and honored by the journey. I’m trying to find my words to articulate it on a much deeper level and hope to as the days progress. Music is the greatest gift ever and so is this life with you floating through space. Oh 19! I wrote this song on a tiny old chapel on an old Casio keyboard. I am not a piano player, especially at the time I wrote this. But there was this 19 year old meth addict, just a fucking kid who grew up in horrible circumstances fueled by an abusive father. This song was and is all for him. He stood there by the keyboard. I had a melody in my head and just started hitting two repetitive keys and all the lyrics just poured out on the spot. Don’t ever give up. I love y’all.
