My Serenity
Mornings fill with the sweetness of a new book, pages I haven’t flipped through waiting for me, those are the best mornings to me.
I glance up every so often watching you play, the mischievous smile on your face, I think mornings like this let me feel serenity.
There is an anxiousness, hoping to not let these hours past, hold them tight like a flower pressed in a book. I want to preserve this time with you, keep it etched in my mind stained with all the vivid colors, of you being only mine, before you are full grown. Darling I hope you never have to feel alone.
Everything I feel catches up ink, I find snippets from when our adventures first began. Then I called you my button, in my belly you wiggled and I knew I had a handful to attend to. You never stopped fluttering, kicking, moving, it seemed you never would sleep. Now it is still that way, I am fighting my body to keep up with you.
Oh little darling, I wouldn’t change it, these early mornings of ours. You make my life complete, you pull at my face, kiss me and giggle. How could someone so little be so very sweet? You can also be so very sour all at once, a mixture of me.
I feel in these mornings you awaken the peace in me. Thank you, for being mommy’s girl, everyone says daughters are for their fathers, but darling you are just for me. You are the music in my ears, the hum in my brain, the ink on my tongue, my perfect serenity.
