Hesitantly, Harper lay her head down on their chest. Tears were still rolling down her cheeks but now they dripped onto their shirt. The nightmare was fresh in her mind and she was still sticky with the panic sweat that always happened when her body was remembering the fire it escaped. But they were there, even with how damaged she was. Her body was tense, muscles tensed for an escape. Harper hadn't meant to intrude and that feeling, combined with her adrenaline system still pumping, meant that she was ready for them to kick her out and away. Waiting to be alone again.
