Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman
36 When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table. 37 A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”
40 Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Tell me, teacher,” he said.
41 “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”
“You have judged correctly,” Jesus said.
44 Then he turned toward the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47 Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The other guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” — Luke 7:36-50 | New International Version (NIV) Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® All rights reserved worldwide. The Forgiven Woman
A LETTER TO ONESELF
Dear me,
Im sorry i cant be perfect, but i try. Im sorry that i cant meet your expectations. Im sorry that im letting you drown. Im sorry you have to feel like this all the time. Im sorry for not always being there. Im sorry for letting you get out of hand. Im sorry for allowing you to do things that you regret. Im sorry, as sorry as one could ever be.
Dear me,
I am proud of you. I am proud that you know your faults. I am proud that you are able to see what is wrong and right. I am proud that you keep pushing. I am proud that through everything, you haven't given up. I am proud that although you feel like you lack purpose, YOU PROVIDE PURPOSE FOR OTHERS.
Dear me,
It might seem bleak right now. You might feel like giving up, but remember those that love you. Those in your corner. Those who care, even if they cannnot show it. Those who would die for you, and those you would die for. You are strong. You are brave. You have purpose. You have love, as you have loved. You have happiness, as you have given. You have meaning, as you have provided.
Dear me,
Please hold on. Its hard, being as you are. This is the reason why you have to become better. In your pursuit you have come across obstacles that seem to be to big to overcome, but, always remember, this is only happening because the universe has a plan for you. These scars, bumps and bruises are nothing but armour and reminders of what you have been through. This armour will protect you from what has harmed you before. You are protected, by the armour pain has provided.
Dear me,
Its okay to not be perfect. It is okay to make bad decisions. This doesn't make you a bad person. What will make you a bad person is when you refuse to realise you're wrong. When you refuse to apologise for your mistakes. Except yourself and others. With all your flaws and theirs. Nobody is perfect. Some may have more flaws than you. They might even be the opposite of what you want to be, but never judge them. Never be the person you despise. Never develop the qualities you hate. Always stay true to yourself and your beliefs.
You are loved. It will get better
Acts 2:36-40 New International Version (NIV)
36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”
Isaiah 59:20 "The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression," declares the LORD. Matthew 3:6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. Mark 1:15 "The time is fulfilled," He said, "and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!"
We have in this short verse the summary of Christian doctrine as regards man and God. Repentance and faith on the part of man; forgiveness of sins, or justification, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, or sanctification, on the part of God. And both these are expressed in the sacrament of baptism, which as it were ties the act of man to the promise of God. For the sacrament expresses man's faith and repentance on one side, and God's forgiveness and gift on the other. Verse 38-Pulpit Commentary
Aun Ibn ‘Abdillaah Ibn ‘Utbah said: The slave worrying about his sins is a motive to leaving them off, his remorse for them is a key to repentance, and a slave will not continue to worry about the sin that he commits until it becomes more beneficial to him then some of his good deeds.” [Al-Hilyah, 4/251]
Thank You, Jesus. No matter what we go through, Your grace, steadfast love, and forgiveness abide. A love we never deserved, yet receive freely, renewing us completely.” 🐑❤️🩹✞
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralytic
1 And again He entered Capernaum after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. 2 Immediately many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. 3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. 4 And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
6 And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”
8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 12 Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!” — Mark 2:1-12 | New King James Version (NKJV) The Holy Bible; New King James Version®. Abraham Justified by Faith
1 What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, discovered in this matter? 2 If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about—but not before God. 3 What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. 6 David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”
9 Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness. 10 Under what circumstances was it credited? Was it after he was circumcised, or before? It was not after, but before! 11 And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them. 12 And he is then also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised. — Romans 4:1-12 | New International Version (NIV) Holy Bible, New International Version®, NIV® Copyright ©1973, 1978, 1984, 2011 by Biblica, Inc.® All rights reserved worldwide.
