My least favorite OSDDID hot take is that “allowing” alters to have a different name, age, gender, sense of appearance, etc is “anti recovery” somehow?? Like. You do understand that having separate distinct identities is one of the diagnostic criteria, and that it’s not a choice or something that you can control?? I do think it’s a good idea to accept that alters are not actually separate people and you are all sharing this life, but that’s completely different from saying that it’s “anti recovery” if your alters have a different perception of themselves.
