yeah, i can totally understand people’s disappointment, like it wasn’t perfect but i don’t think it was THAT bad either. i think they did the best they could with the time they had. i can totally see it ending there and that would be disappointing but it’s also open-ended enough that they could come back to it later, which is what i’m hoping they will do!

It’s a visually beautiful moment, but it always just feels hollow and cheap to me.
I feel like the writers intended Merlin to be a guide who nudges Arthur along and helps him find the right path, which Arthur then would choose to follow on his own and grow apart from Merlin’s guidance. But they didn’t pull it off and it just kinda comes across as Puppet Master / Enabler Merlin and Incompetent / Oblivious Arthur a lot of the time, which isn’t a good look on either of them.
