JANE. Okay listen up bitchcakes. Jane is hella talented. I love picking her brain and the way she allows me to throw spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks as far as how I write/think about Peeta, how I think about his relationship with his family, HELPING ME NAME HIS MOTHER???

Not to mention the broader aspects of Panem as a whole, totally riding out with my President Peeta verse not just enjoying it but bringing other badass babes along for the ride??? And just over all everything Jane touches is gold. She's so thoughtful in world building, so wonderful in the intricate details and ideas, but also just goes with the flow and helps bridge different lores together.

And OOC she is just a doll. I'm so grateful she gave me a chance, being the first THG person to follow me back and dive into things with and just has been such a treat to write with and get to know.

Peeta had aided the President by speaking in the interviews to all of Panem. It could have been prompted as coercion to most that knew the baker's boy from District Twelve. Why would such a sweet boy talk so freely against the rebellion? Though to the viewer the key may lay in the fact of how only a few of the Victors were able to escape the arena during the 75th Hunger Games while the others were left for dead. That was the rebellion's doing. The narrative could easily be manipulated to all those that would watch.

Peeta had volunteered to speak with Caesar in what he thought would be mercy for the only person he cared about. Saving her from being used by the rebellion, in his concussed mindset was a better route than dying by the hands of such a powerful figure in their nation. However, this muddled plan did not take into account the bystanders of his one-mind track of protecting Katniss. Someone got hurt. Someone always got hurt no matter what Peeta was able to do.

They reaped the benefits here, the ones that were placed in protective care by President Snow, were removed from their shackled state into the top penthouse of the tribute tower. Gratitude gave them a brief luxury of security.

“I was trying to keep everyone safe. It’s messed up, fair enough. But don’t you think it would be better for all of us to just give him what he wants?” Peeta asked wanting an ounce of validation for volunteering his voice to the Capitol’s cause.

The panic thudding in his chest grew so loud that it reverberated in his ears. It travelled throughout his entire body as if he himself was a drum being beat on ceremoniously. Teeth clamped down on the inside of his lower lip. He would not cry for he had done too much of that in these past months. It was surprising that he even had enough water left in his body to continue on through another emotional spiral.

Finnick could not bring himself to respond, not even a curt nod of acknowledgement as he was frozen in place, attempting to keep the dam inside him from collasping. He could assuredly assume Annie had the patience for him. Their patience for each other was always a stronghold when the other was struggling to breathe as a fish on dry land.

Reaching out, he let his fingers graze Annie’s hair, trailing his fingertips down the length. “I know.” Finnick finally whispered in a small voice. It was his first instinct to respond with reassurance. He was close to uttering the two words again, but he needed to be honest with himself and open up to her.

“I know this war is your fight just as much as it is mine but—” He looked up with glassy eyes. “I want to be so selfish right now because I don’t think I could stand to watch them put you through anything to gain leverage on the Capitol.”

Oh my stars! @nightlockrebel Kels is just such an amazing writer. There is so much heart and thought and weight she puts into all her replies and I just adore her Katniss. Katniss is rough, sharp around the edges, but a genuinely kind and sweet person. The way Kels is able to bring that to life is so wonderful and entertaining to read. Her Katniss breathes so much life with every stroke of a key. I find myself reading her replies in absolute awe of how she is able to convey the tornado of emotional impact and it is FUN to read and explore!

And as a person, Kels is such a genuine treat to talk with. She's not very OOC on the dash much but in the DMs she is hysterical and down to earth and chill. I get excited seeing a notification from her. I love hearing about her dogs and how they did in class and I'm so excited for her big milestones coming up. (Not my place to tell)

Point is, we've become fast friends and I would absolutely follow her to the edge of this hell site. She's just a wonderfully talented and genuinely nice person and I love talking with her and writing with her.

Cass pulled Annie into a tight hug, refusing to let go for a few moments. With news of Cass' husband being kept in the Capitol, her mind jumped to the worst possible options. What if he was being tortured on her behalf? What if they'd killed him? People themselves weren't bad, but the Capitol had twisted its citizens into something beyond repair.

"Will you stay with me tonight?" Cass whispered. "I really don't want to be alone. My roommate is talking to Coin about maybe getting reassigned anyway, so...."

"I think it's a little too late for that," Cass rejoined.

Her old self had died the second she'd been reaped, and she was one of the many ghosts that followed Cass around. She could never be whole again, not now that her own sister and her husband's sister were dead. Hands were shoved in her pockets, and she did her best not to sound cruel. Annie did not deserve her ire -- no one did, really -- but she had no better person to take it out on. Cass clenched her jaw.

"Who've you got haunting you, if you don't mind my asking?"

Those who had once been friends, were now enemies. Places that had felt safe, he now despised. It were only flavours and smells that hadn't been touched by confusion and distortion. Everything else was mostly altered.

They made it seem they wanted to help him. Made it appear like it was for his own good. Their actions were a contradiction to such claims. And although his time in the Capitol had been far from a holiday, he was starting to think it was better than this place. Perhaps he would agree. Or perhaps she could remind him of how wrong he was. Then again, he was unsure if he trusted her opinion.

"Why aren't you cuffed?" A frown. Not one out of animosity, but more sincere question --- the unfairness of it all lingering in his tone. His wrists hurt, chafing circling red.
