Aemma felt like an older sister to the children her cousins had brought into the world, because she was not that far in age from them all. Gael had to feel the same, given she was their aunt, but barely three years Aemma's senior. Their family's ages were odd at times, but nonetheless Aemma enjoyed having the children around. They brought a little life and light to the Keep whenever they visited, which the place generally lacked. "I am sure by the time you visit next, your son can play with my little one", she said, smiling. It was unfortunately not often that her two cousins visited, so she knew their children would be older by the time Rhaella brought her son to meet them all. Aemma would have loved to visit earlier, but she knew neither her grandmother, nor Viserys would want her to go.
When Rhaella spoke of Daemon, Aemma picked at the skin around her thumb. Apparently their grandmother had tried to marry him to everyone BUT her, the only one who had ever wanted him and had been wanted back in return. The two of them had decided to marry when Aemma had been six and Daemon seven. It had been a pragmatic decision at the time, because they had been pirates at sea that day and Daemon had refused to go on land to find another bride in the future. But they had grown up and their bond had never wavered, never changed. If there was one man in the kingdom she would have given her hand and heart to without hesitation, it was him. But she had never had a choice in life and it seemed neither had he now. He would be gone with another woman soon, leaving Aemma behind. Rhaella's touch tore her from her thoughts and the girl looked up, smiling slightly. "I like that idea", she said, nodding. Anything to get her out of this castle that felt like a prison. "I found a cat the other day and it lives in my chambers now, but grandmother and Viserys don't know. Luckily neither one of them ever visits me there, so I can just keep it. I think it is a girl. Still need to name her."
