So, what exactly is "Sirkut,"anyway?

Well, I suppose I’d have to talk about it eventually…

Sirkut is a mutation of the virus designated “217,” commonly known as “The Clockwork Disease”; it is incurable by current means.  Unlike 217, its infectivity rate is 75% (still too high, in my opinion) and can only be spread as a food-borne illness.  Like its predecessor, it alters the biochemistry of organic tissue, causing organic matter to re-arrange into a form of “organic metal”; a more “natural” means of roboticization, if you will.  We still don’t know how it does it, but I’m sure that once the processes are documented, we’ll find a way to reverse its effects.  Hearts are replaced by spherical “batteries”, joints by gear networks, eyes by spherical “cameras”, etc.

For Outer Mobians, it shows first on the outside of the body. For Inner Mobians, it first converts the internal structure before manifesting outside the body. This can cause those infected to go for very long periods of time without knowing of infection.  Using myself as an example, I didn’t know I had it until a routine physical exam six months ago.

Areas infected appear to be metal, mainly gold, steel, and copper. Other substances have been reported, appearing to be leather, rubber, plastic, and other basic materials. Despite how it may look, it’s all organic, and even carries a subjects DNA. Organs and tissues affected are more resilient than normal, carrying the same strength and density as the materials they resemble, instead of normal tissue density. Areas damaged repair over time, but is much slower than standard regeneration.

In conclusion, Sirkut turns you into a automaton; in my — and many Inner Mobians’ — case, it does so from the inside out.
