There's this really cool thing that a handful of diaspora Palestinians have committed a lot of time and effort to called vetting (maybe you've heard of it?) in which they speak directly with a fundraiser holder face-to-face or over phone/video call to verify all portions of a fundraiser. There are so many posts [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] that talk about the details of this process to verify that a fundraiser organizer, recipient, and the details are correct by verifying legal documents like proof of residence, photo ID, fluency in Palestinian-Dialect Arabic, family tree constructions, etc.
These vetters have been posting about Palestinian/Gaza/Arab culture/Islam/etc. for a really long time, [1] [2] [3] (these are Wayback machine links to the tumblr accounts of 90-ghost, el-shab-hussein, & nabulsi before you start crying "but, you can post backdate on tumblr!") [4] (moayesh's Instagram because his tumblr is fairly new) meaning that they didn't just pop up after Oct 2023 to start posing as a qualified individual. They are real diaspora Palestinians with stories to tell and culture to share.
GFM also has strict requirements for withdrawing money, needing evidence of a bank account from a country they service and a solid way to transfer funds from that bank account to the recipient's bank account. If the funds are withheld from the intended recipient, that can be reported to and resolved by GFM.
If you're too overwhelmed by trying to distinguish between scams and real fundraisers, then whatever. That's your problem, not everyone else's. You don't need to publicly announce to everyone that you're too busy/tired/incompetent/ignorant to properly investigate fundraisers, so everyone else should stop supporting them as well. There are plenty of vetters and scam-busting blogs dedicated to helping people distinguish between real and fake.
Donating to established nonprofit aid organizations is absolutely a good deed and is much more straightforward, but it's not the only way to help. Especially with the repeated aid blockages, sometimes Ghazan families need a more direct flow of money to pay for the ridiculously inflated cost necessities (I recently received a video from Farah wherein she states that a bottle of dish soap cost $50. $50!!!!) as well as save up for evacuation costs once the Egyptian border crossing opens. (Thousands of dollars!)
With a few minor parts removed, here is a copy/pasted text that was originally in a reblog but now in its own post since the original account is gone. Links that didn’t work anymore have been left out. I figured it’d be useful for anyone who needs it.
Rereading murderbot (again) and just got to art's introduction.
And like, art doesn't play nice with other bots. It bullies them, it intimidates them, it will hurt other bots to get what it wants if it doesn't want to waste time hacking it.
And it tries that with mb. I mean, info secunits is probably like 80% propaganda, 15% corporate promotions, and 5% actual development and research, almost exclusively focusing on what they are designed for and how they got there.
It's out there, about to start a boring transport/recon mission, and one of the most dangerous and feared entities basically jogs up to it and goes "hi, I'm a friendly bot, like super friendly, totally nothing suspicious here. Can I have a ride? Here's a GIANT file of pirated media"
And it's still a bot, just a bot with organic parts. Art is a research vessel and it's curious, and this is a rare opportunity to get info on secunits, which are probably a huge pain in the ass to deal with on its missions, with almost no practical info about them. Also, this might be an indication that someone has caught on to its antics and it probably wants to nip that in the bud.
And it turns out the huge file of pirated media isn't secretly a virus or malware, and looking at it's movements, Art can see that it isn't actively hostile towards humans. Unexpected, but hey. Points to this weird construct. But that might not be it's goal.
And then it sits down and starts sorting and watching media so art is like alright, it's obviously not here to fuck me up and it has no idea what the hell I am. Let's make sure this moderately dangerous condtruct doesn't get any funny ideas.
I don't think art was going for friendly in the slightest. I think to wanted to scare mb to make sure it didnt try anything. I think it expected mb to get pissed or argue.
But mb basically shuts down. It stops everything and huddles into a chair and i imagine that it does its best impression of a secunit in stasis.
And when art is like "I mean, don't fuck with me, but you can still watch your TV shows" mb responds with something that would not be in construct research outside of very clinical and vague explanation.
It shows art that it expects art to hurt it. And it's shows that it can be hurt, that it has been hurt, and that it probably has some trauma related to this hurt. It also probably accidentally added some context to the punishment recordings. I'll bet mb was punished for not wanting to hurt it's clients.
And art... well, mb said in the first book that being half human half bot isn't two conflicting sides, but just a whole of what it is. It isn't human, it isn't a bot. It is the culmination of both. A sentient entity that was developed by humans for slavery and spent its entire existence being punished for having free will.
Art is also a sentient entity that was developed by humans for a purpose. But it was treated with love and respect and it's free will was celebrated, if tempered.
Imagine thinking you are one of a very exclusive group of entities that has been categorized as something that is a gross misconception of what you are and what your capabilities are. Art is a bot, which are not humans and dont have rights because they don't have feelings or wants or desires and cannot feel pain. You think you are a very unique entity, no one has done this before.
But they have. The proof is sitting, frightened in your body and you had no idea. Mb is as capable of evil as any human, and as capable of destruction as any bot. You are also cable of extreme evil and destruction. But you are loved and cherished. This entity, this thing is as human as you, moreso even, and it has spent its entire life being hated and feared and it chose instead to just coexist when given the chance.
Art says "I'm sorry I frightened you". Not, I didn't mean to frighten you. And then mb grumpily (which is understandable!!) Lets art watch media with it.
Like, art just met the dumber more compact prototype version of what it could have been and went "wait no this is cool actually." Mb can't br programed to turn against its crew, it processes it's feeling both organically and inorganically, it can hack and learn and be loyal and be angry. And it has no idea what it's doing or what it wants, but it's VERY good at security.
So yeah, I can see why art kind of latched onto mb. And why it told it's crew about this strange little secunit it found on its mission. Kind of like finding someone SUPER cool who just gets you on a level no one else has been able to. Someone who coordinates so flawlessly with you but still is able to challenge you when it needs to. Someone who loves and is exasperated by humans as much as you, even as you need to be "human" to be able to interact with them.
So yeah. Mb and art, first meeting. Perfect 10/10 can, have, and will read again
Edit: ALSO ALSO art gets to watch media with full context for the FIRST TIME IN ITS LIFE. Mb can process human emotions into data automatically and now it gets to experiencd fictional story as it's meant to be experienced for the first time and mb is so so indulgent of it and kind to it, letting it take time to process things and rewatching parts with it when it wants to.
I just wanna say Rayleigh is lying out his ass when he tells Roger he doesn't "wanna be tied down" with Shakky. That man definitely already feels something for her, but is holding back for the sake of Roger since that's his bestie boyfriend.
Because why doesn't Rayleigh want anyone else to know about Shakky's letter?
"I figured I should talk to you one on one Roger "
He knows this would upset Roger & he wants to discuss it in private AKA this is a serious & delicate situation.
At no point does Rayleigh deny having feelings for Shakky. He simply comes up with the convenient excuse of not wanting to be "tied down" as Roger angrily & in jealousy says " Well I do!!". He's trying to show Roger that he has nothing to worry about from him.
Rayleigh's face when Roger proclaims he's "not giving up" is the biggest clue. Oda gives him that ultra sunny & happy background, BUT he juxtaposed it with his thought bubble. "........" typically indicates some type of unspoken feeling or an awkward pause of some sort. Rayleigh is suppressing his true feelings & is putting on a fake smile. Trying to convince himself that this is what he wants.
Finally, why tf is Ray going to such extremes as to not be in the same vicinity as Shakky? He even lies about "not feeling good" while he stays behind, gets drunk, & sings Binks' Sake which is famously bittersweet. Man is coping hard.
IMO, Rayleigh is trying to be a good friend/first mate by suppressing his own desires for the sake of Roger. Roger in turn is being a selfish brat & not realizing that he's technically the random love interest meant to be an obstacle for the endgame couple.
HOWEVER, I do think by the end of God Valley Roger will realize the error of his actions. I'm willing to bet we will see Ray's mask slip or perhaps Roger will witness a moment between the two after she is safely rescued. Just think about Kinemon & Tsuru after she almost got eaten by that giant boar.
It will be at that moment Roger finally sees Rayleigh's true feelings & he will back off & offically let go of Shakky. I will be honestly surprised if Rayleigh doesn't make clear once & for all he does love Shakky during an incident where she is all but confirmed to be kidnapped. Oda loves to showcase the strength of his couples' bond by giving the man a dramatic "rescue the girl" moment.
It would also be a nice parallel to when Rayleigh pulled up to Amazon Lily to rescue his pseudo daughter Hancock. That might've not been the first time he has come to a young woman's rescue.
Notice how after this, Oda frames Rayleigh, Hancock, & Shakky close together? This isn't Ray's first rodeo. 👀
This even puts a more pleasant spin on Rayleigh's introduction words:
Not only have I recently seen people say a more accurate translation would be,
"I can't just ignore a beautiful young girl "
it's important to remember Rayleigh was in the middle of helping Camie who just recently been abducted & put up for auction.
He was quite literally seeing a young girl being scared & abused by the CD's. Could this have reminded him of his wife?? Since it's all but confirmed that Shakky was kidnapped in a similar manner? 🤔
Also, remember how we love to say Rayleigh & Shakky are in an open marriage because of this dialogue?
Knowing what we know now about Shakky's past....was this another tongue in cheek moment from Oda? Is it possible that Rayleigh likes to spend his time freeing young women from slavery on the Sabaody Archipelago? Did Rayleigh & Shakky specifically move here so they can help trafficked women? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
In conclusion, Oda is going really fucking hard on the shoujo angle! This flashback seems to be doubling as Rayleigh & Shakky's love story & I, for one, love every second of it!! 💕
I have to explain what is going on in the UK, because it is absurd.
So, this is Gary Lineker:
He's known for a fair few things over here.
He was a very good (association) footballer, playing for England in the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, winning the Golden Boot in 1986, and managing to never get a single yellow card in his playing career. He played for Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona, and Tottenham, before finishing his career in Japan.
But if you aren't in your mid 30s, you probably know actually know him him for a couple of other things.
The first is the role of spokesman for another Leicester icon, Walkers Crisps (which are sort of equivalent to Lays, but hit different), as pictured above. Despite being a notably clean player, he used to play a cheeky serial crisp thief. I don't think he's done that for well over a decade, but his ads were on the telly a lot when I was a kid and it's a bit like learning that the hamburglar was an incredibly clean (American) football player or something.
The second thing Gary is widely known for is having presented Match of the Day, the big football program on the BBC, the sort-of state broadcaster, since 1999. He is, incidentally, very well paid for this (though with a consensus that he could get even more if he went to one of the non-free-to-view broadcasters because he is very good at the job).
He also has a twitter account. And political opinions.
So, the UK government has got itself dead set upon doing heinous stuff that will totally somehow work to prevent people who want to come to the UK making the perilous crossing of the Channel (between England and France).
By heinous, I mean "openly advertise that they won't attempt to protect victims of modern slavery" stuff.
It's very obviously using a legal hammer to victimise a marginalised group of people in order to win votes.
And, uh, I should clarify that by "legal" I mean "using the passage of laws" - the policy is, in addition to all the other ways it's awful, probably incompatible with the Human Rights Act and the UK's international law obligations.
Gary, top lad that he is, objected to this.
On Tuesday 7th March, he made a quote Tweet of a video of the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, bigging up the policy, he wrote "Good heavens, this is beyond awful.".
This got a bunch of backlash from extremely right-wingers, and then he made the tweet that really got him in trouble (with right-wingers): "There is no huge influx. We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries. This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s, and I’m out of order?".
Now, I am not actually subjecting myself to watching a video of Suella Braverman bigging up a cruel policy to say whether the specific comparison of the language to 1930s Germany is accurate.
But needless to say, Ms Braverman was amongst the many figures on the right of UK politics objecting to Gary's rhetoric.
And here's the part where a fact about the BBC comes in: it is nominally neutral and impartial (and so, of course, is routinely accused of bias from all sides but particularly the right-wing), and has something of a code for its contributors to this effect.
Now, that code has previously been applied to Gary Lineker, over a comment about whether governing Conservative Party would hand back donations from figures linked to the Russian regime.
But it generally hasn't been applied too strongly to people like Gary, whose roles have nothing to do with politics (such as presenting a "here's what happened on the footie today" show), on the basis that, well, their roles have nothing to do with politics.
However, when directly asked about whether the BBC should punish Gary Lineker for his tweets, government figures basically went "well, that's a them problem".
But a couple of days passed, and it seemed like Gary's approach of "standing his ground because he did nothing wrong" was working and everything would die down. He was set to get 'a talking to' but not much more than that. The Conservative right, after all their fire and fury earlier, had gotten bored and moved onto something else.
And then, on Friday 10th March, the BBC announced that he would be suspended from hosting Match of the Day this weekend.
But it could still go ahead, because there are, like, other hosts!
Except, well, funnily enough, when you take a beloved figure off air, for making a fairly anodyne tweet, no one wants to be the scab who actually takes up the role of replacing him.
Gary's two co-hosts, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright, said that they would not appear without him.
People who (co-)host Match of the Day on other days followed suit.
The net result is that Match of the Day is currently set to air without hosts, BBC commentary, or global feed commentary.
And the solidarity shown to Gary Lineker, over what is very flagrantly actual cancel culture and an attack on freedom of speech (the logic implied is that institutional impartiality requires that no one say anything too critical of the government ever), has continued to grow.
The BBC has pretty much been unable to run pretty much any live sports content today, and has resorted to raiding the BBC Sounds archive to fill the sports radio channel.
And, as of 17:30 on Saturday 11th March, the situation shows no signs of improvement, though some are calling for the Chairman Richard Sharp, who is separately facing corruption allegations, to resign (yes I linked to the BBC itself there, there is nothing, nothing, the BBC loves more than going into great detail about how much the BBC sucks).

Cult of the Lamb Alternate Universe inspired by my playthrough and that follows the story of my "lamb":
The False Prophet
Finally! A compilation of the information needed to understand my story: important links and a list of relevant tags.
*Timeline will be linked as well!
Important Notes:
This story has been told through mini-comics, illustrations, and asks.
It isn't draw chronologically, so not all moments are, or will be, drawn (I'll be adding parts as I draw them, so check the timeline from time to time).
That said, all the information is under the cut!
General tag: #owo of the last days
🔸TIMELINE [X]
"The False Prophet" [FP]
🔸No-Name-know // Also know as "Leader" "The Lamb", "The Red Crown Bearer"
🔸they-them (Non-binary)
🔸Lamb? (Fox in sheep clothing)
🔸Chaotic Good
🔸Aro-Ace
Charismatic, gentle and cheerful with their cult; a complete beast in the crusades. Obsessed with "pretty" things (decorations, flowers, etc...) and having a large flock; no one outside (and some inside) of the cult seems to notice that they are clearly wearing a costume.
How they became the bearer of the red crown is unknown for everyone not involved.
The FP doesn't have a custom tag considering they appear in 99% of the posts of the story.
Relevant asks:
"Has the false prophet ever talked to anyone?"
"Why of all the fleeces, you prefer to use the white??"
"How does the fox see with that sheep mask on?"
"What weapon and curse are their favorite?"
"Does anyone know the truth about them?"
"Is the fox-lamb and THE fox related in any way?"
"Is TOWW chill with his "vessel"'s new look?"
"is the false lamb good at pelt making?"
"Is your crownbearer running around naked all the time?"
"How does your lamb take care of the bishops, do they have resentments?"
🔸The colors of the cult are orange, cream & gold [like the fur and wool of the leader].
🔸The main symbol of the cult is "OWO", which is found in all the ornaments, carvings, banners, tapestries and tunics (of the followers).
Followers Robes
"Life in the cult is pleasant, everyone has what they need and more. The leader listens to everyone's requests and is responsible for keeping all needs satisfied"
🔸Followers are encouraged to live peacefully, indulge their whims, and be happy. The leader is usually willing to grant any wish, as long as it doesn't endanger the life of any follower, isn't malicious nor harmful.
🔸The main belief indoctrinated in the cult is that of "The Eternal Cycle" and that every being reincarnates after death.
The Eternal Cycle
*Extra: "(...)What can or can't the False Prophet do?"
🔸 The main rule of the cult is that no one can kill a follower. Related to this point, violence and resurrection are frowned upon.
Relevant Cult & Follower's related asks:
"How do the FP treat the followers at the cult?"
"What is one thing that would get your followers put to death immediately?" + "What is the diet of the cult like?"
"If two followers fistfight, are they mad at both of them?"
"The “lamb” cares for every follower? Even the jerky ones?"
"How does the false prophet deal with sin and damnation?"
"Your lamb believes in reincarnation and seeks out the reincarnation of specific followers. Are they right?"
Relevant common followers:
The Famous Gals & The Quartet
The First Sinners
The Pubben Bois & The Gold Hearts
Shamura's Karma
The First Followers
🔸The original group of the first 6 followers who promised eternal loyalty to the False Prophet and that they would be their eternal companions in their subsequent reincarnations.
🔸Only this group is sought out and brought back into the cult by the False Prophet. Other followers are beloved, but only serve for one lifespan. *[Caretakers are included in the future]
The First Spouse: Yuki
Tag: #Yuki cotl
Symbol of a beautiful beginning.
🔸First follower to join the cult
🔸Platonic companion of the False Prophet and their main anchor to the mortal plane.
🔸The "Spouse" title is only given to a reincarnation of Yuki.
Yuki Reincarnations are an excellent point of reference for understanding the chronology of my story, considering the consistency of her use of the skull necklace, which makes each Yuki have a lifespan of around 100-120 years.

Bishops defeated and Narinder dethroned; the power is theirs to take and use as they see fit. No longer wear the costume, but still like to call themselves a lamb.
They seem to never stop smiling and generally have a relaxed demeanor most of the time. Know as for their love for collecting "pretty" things (objects, nature, or living beings), taking pride in keeping them in "perfect condition"
The Collector doesn't have a custom tag considering they are fairly new to the story timeline.

Ratau: 1 , 2, 3, 4
🔸It's unknown whether he truly did not notice the change at first or simply did not question anything because of his faith in TOWW. The FP usually visits to play knucklebones with him and his friends. He is Inmortal the same way the Lamb is [crown magic]
Forneus: 1 , 2 ,3 ,4
🔸An ally of the cult; the FP is very fond of her and enjoys visiting her. They didn't hesitate to return her children to her as soon as the opportunity arose.
Sozo: 1 , 2 , 3 , 4
🔸The False Prophet never liked Sozo in life, they didn't care about his death and basically just planted the mushroom because they wanted it for their collection. While Sozo was eventually cured, the leader never liked him, so as soon as he died, he wasn't granted a grave but used as fertilizer for the fields.
??? / Mystic Seller / "GG": 1, 2, 3
This post will be updated as the story progresses!
If there are any blank spaces, it's because I have drawing ideas that I haven't done yet that go there.
