how i confessed to my sister
we'd already started dating, and we'd been close even longer, but one day i felt i needed more. then i felt the spark. the more i tossed the idea around in my head, the more of me it engulfed until i could think of nothing else. my mind was set ablaze with only one thought. it was so obvious: i have to call it 'sister'.
from girlfriends to sisters... how much closer could two people get? and god how lucky i was to know it felt the same about sisters. the plan couldn't fail, but still i knew i had to do this right. i had to give it the world it deserves.
i wonder when it knew. did it know what would happen when we first met for the date, seeing the conspicuous bracelet adorn my wrist? or as we drove and i awkwardly settled on the couch, was my silence telling? whether it caught on or not, i told it in no uncertain terms, through a handwritten letter: i would like to make a promise.
we will be the sisters we never had
we will make each other the sisters we could never be
the bracelet to match my own was woven into the letter
this is the world i give you
