re: that post about the 'feels' gotten from different VU albums (which i cannot find for the life of me. if i had found it, this would've been a reblog) i want to say something about my favourite: white light / white heat

wl/wh feels like a rising discontent within you, growing as the album progresses. that restless feeling to do something, though with anything you do, that feeling is never sated. it just grows. a jittery thing, while around you amazing songs are playing. you need to get up and do something. you bounce your leg but it isn't enough; you get up and walk around the room and that turns into you trying to dance or something but it doesn't feel right at all, that feeling's still there and growing; and all you can do is just pace your room while this urge calling you to action grows and grows and grows and you are helpless, and you are enjoying it as an experience integral to the songs, you almost feel like you may throw up or go mad or something from it.

with i heard her call my name, where the feeling is both at its highest point and somehow most sated by the screeching of instruments and feedback -- and then, the song ends, and the feeling inside you is left to hang at a very precarious point.

THEN we dive into sister ray and you just catapult yourself around your room now, not caring, in that ecstatic state of not giving a fuck because the song doesn't give a fuck about propriety or whatever either,,,, and that feeling doesn't subside but fucking hell does it feel good. and then in the last couple minutes of the song, the music builds and you think something, something great is happening; after the utterly disregarding-of-the-conventions-of-singing amp-ph-ph-ph-ph-phetamine! from lou the music fucking- climaxes, there's no other word for this, and that feeling inside you has finally finally burst or left you in the small explosion or whatever; and it feels, really, like the best thing in the fucking world.
