I have two ideas for gender transformation scenarios where a woman becomes a man due to a misinterpreted wish. Which one do you prefer?
1.
A couple desperately wants children, but the wife’s sterility prevents them from conceiving. Blaming herself for not being able to give her husband a son, Olivia consults a witch who gives her a potion to drink. She believes the potion will cure her sterility and allow her to become pregnant. However, instead of curing her, the potion transforms her into a boy -- because that is what she said she wanted to give her husband.
Together, they learn to accept the situation. Oliver adapts by giving up his life and status as a wife to fully become his husband’s son. According to the laws of magic that govern such matters, the witch refuses to deal with a child and cannot legally administer a potion to a minor. Therefore, he must wait until he comes of age to consult the witch again and potentially regain his female appearance.
When he turns eighteen, he chooses not to go back to the witch. He realizes he loves it -- he loves being a man, and wants to stay like this.
2.
A closeted man, desperate to escape his repressed homosexuality, makes a bargain with a faerie. His wish: "Let me love my wife as I have always wanted to love." He meant: cure me. Make me desire her the way a normal husband should.
The fae takes his words literally. They are known for that.
The next morning, his wife wakes up as a man -- the very image of the desire he spent a lifetime trying to bury.
But they have a daughter. A little girl who still calls for her mother in the dark. And now the panic sets in -- not just for themselves, but for her. How do you explain to a child that her mother has vanished into a stranger's body?
both delicious morsels!!! i like the idea of a desperate wife coming to the witch knowing how heart broken her husband is about not being able to have a son like he always wanted but hed never leave her because he loves her so truly loyal to the end even though it hurts him so the wife asks please let me give my husband a son and the next day he wakes up in the spare room they had long since converted into a guest bedroom some time after they first discovered she was infertile except now its like it was when they first moved in and decorated the room with the yellow walls and cute cloud designs ofc theres more posters on the wall and the kids dresser they originally bought counting their chickens before their eggs hatched is replaced with a much larger dresser and in the place of the crib is a twin mattress and that desk and gaming computer are new
his dad walks in right as the 6am alarm goes off his new son is confused at all of this and at how exasperated his husband is as if hes expecting him to still be asleep even though he has school today and it takes a long while before his husbands new son pieces everything together and gets the lore on the new reality he finds himself in apparently in this world he (his mom) sadly died during childbirth and its just been him and his dad ever since he tries to convince his dad its her but he doesnt believe him and only gets weirded out when he shares details of their intimate married life from before he was born but its also quite awkward knowing he still has feelings for??? his dad?????? luckily his dad shares no such romantic feelings which is all the more heart breaking but definitely for the best!!! and he remembers all of those deeply intimate moments with his husband now dad
it helps though that overtime memories of his new life seep through the cracks he tries to hold on to some of the old memories and even goes to see the witch to try and turn him back but alas the witch has no memory of ever performing such a spell and refuses to a service minor none-the-less for such a creepy sounding request as "make me my dads wife"
eventually the son settles into this new life though especially after seeing how well suited his dad is to being a dad and although his dad misses his wife he seems so much happier now getting to raise a son such as him and with time he starts to let go of those old memories his dad dismisses that short period of time where his son insisted he was his dead mom and dads wife as a kid going through the weird and confusing time that is puberty and the son even ends up getting a crush on a guy in his new high school when he comes out as gay to his dad his dad is totally accepting and supportive and even helps arrange the best prom night for his son and his boyfriend that a teen could ever dream of
and though his old life is still a small tickle in the back of his brain hes much happier now as a boy and he got to live such a different childhood than the one he grew up with he got to play with boy toys like card games and monster trucks he got to be on his high school football team (very briefly before discovering hes not remotely a jock) he got to have a very weird and uncomfortable bird and the bees conversation with his dad he got to have sleep overs with his bros where they spent the whole night eating pizzas talking about girls and playing video games
when he was a woman he grew up a pretty sheltered life with an overly religious father and a mother who enforced femininity pretty strictly he didnt get to feel like a fully realized person until after he married his husband straight out of high school and even then though he loved him so and his husband provided him with so much more independence he still spent so much of his life dedicated to him he even gave it all up for him and now as his son... he gets to be himself live for himself and the love for his former husband never left it simply changed because as his dad he got to bring to his son all he had ever wanted as a wife a supportive and loving family that nurtured his independence and wanted him for who he was
i love the second one just for the pure comedy potential of the situation im imagining now both fathers dressing up and pretending to be the childs original father whenever she is around and her mom is conveniently in the restroom or in the other room or went to the grocery store whenever the girl asks and they get up to tons of wild and zany shenanigans to hide the truth all the wile learning to fell back in love with each other again but with so much more fire and passion now than ever before and eventually it gets to a point where the girl senses its a sensitive subject and doesnt wanna bring it up but there can only be so many seasons so many work vacations or chronic diarrhea incidents and even though dad 2 can perfectly mimic his old voice the girl suspects her dad is just faking her moms voice to convince her surely mom must have divorced him and left in the night without saying anything and hes too embarrassed to say anything/trying to protect her/afraid she will blame herself or smthn until one day she accidentally walks in on both her dads making out on the couch and they have to explain some things but even with their daughter knowing they still have to keep up appearances with dad 2s family and with their friends in the small town they live in and in order to keep it from looking like dad 1 killed his wife bc she hasnt been physically seen in almost a year now
and the shows called something corny like "My Dad's Mom" except the apostrophe isnt plural but denotes a conjunction like it isnt "the mom of my dad" but instead its "my dad is mom"
