I'm rather disappointed with Vice as a news outlet. A few months ago they ran an article about the triumphant return of Tokyopop as an publisher of Western independent comics, while glossing over their very real problem with having taken the IPs of burgeoning artists who wanted to be published through them, assuming they got paid in the first place. Instead we got a puff piece that might as well have been sponsored by Tokyopop. And now we have an "article" that's literally attacking fans of Retro games and gaming, which is literally nothing more than trolling and flamebait. I'm not going to link to the article because I don't want to give them the unearned traffic. However, in short, if the author of the article means what they say then, frankly, they're a really closed-minded, callous jackass who really doesn't care about the evolution of video games as an artistic medium, and focuses more on shallow appearance over gameplay experiences. Yes some old games are bad. That's the whole point of my Nintendo Power Retrospectives show - to find the good *and* the bad. If the author doesn't mean what he wrote in that article, then he is engaging in clickbaiting at a level that not even BuzzFeed would engage in. As far as I'm concerned, Vice as a source of news is worthless, and unless I personally know a writer and their work from somewhere else I will not consider any article from that site worth reading.
