Yes, six does a good job of including WOC in the show, but it is still very limited. Think about it, of the ten main cast Boleyns (Ashleigh, Christina, Millie, Courtney B, Andrea, Kala, Maddison B, Hazel, Kelly, Lucy), three are AOC (Courtney B, Andrea, Hazel),one of which is quite white passing besides her wonderful hair (Hazel). It’s quite a similar situation for Howard too. Of the thirteen main cast (Annabel, Aimie, Vicki, Sophie, Samantha, Courtney Mack, Jodie, Courtney Monsma, Georgia, Alicia, Bryony, Rebecca, Maddison F), 1 is an AOC (Samantha) and she has said she is very white passing. And then there’s Seymour, who has main 9 actresses (Holly, Natalie, Lauren B, Loren, Abby, Mallory, Caitlin, Amy, Gabriella) all of which are white. This essentially keeps AOC out of half of the roles in the show. And then the two loud sassy characters, Aragon and Cleves, have very few white main performers, Lauren D and Megan G for Aragon and Sophie, Tilda, and Kiana for Cleves. These stereotypes have been pressing black women for years, and in the musical for feminism, it pushes them nonetheless. And then the only queen with no white actresses, Parr, essentially does and says nothing important until the last 2 songs. I’m not trying to discredit six’s work pushing women in the musical industry, I’m simply trying to show that it isn’t perfect, as no media is.
