Six retired hairstyles I wish SIX would reinstate x
This show has been running for a little over half a decade now, and seems to of finally settled into a form of standardization for each queen now.
Aragon: Some type of curl, front styling, volume
Boleyn: Space buns, loose hair
Seymour: Front styling, varying types of styling for loose hair
Cleves/Parr: Some kind of updo OR braid/ Ponytail
Howard: Straightened ponytail
As much as these layouts work for each queen, there has been a multitude of different variants over the years.
So, I thought |'d share some of my favorite stylings x
Style used from: (2019-21)
Unfortunately this styling was only ever used (consecutively) once, with original Uk tour A/C alternate Cassandra Lee.
It's a shame to me. The style worked for the character and looked great on Cassandra, but I can also see the reasoning behind the switch as the style was utilized very early into Six's days, and by the time Cassandra left another queen (Cleves) was predominately using updo's as their main styling.
A simple case of foresight over look appeal.
Style used from: (2023-??)
Again, this is a style we've only ever seen utilized once, and even then it was for a very short amount of time. During the 2023 short-lived South Korean production of the show, both principal Boleyn's Kim
Ji-woo and Pae Su-jeong (pictured) had green highlights implemented into their wigs.
However, like most of the styles on this list, this is the only time the highlights have been used, not seeing the light of day since the production closed in July 2023.
This style was not as buried and forgotten as initially assumed, the highlights making a return to SIX in a recent turn of events, with current Uk tour Silver swing Lucia Valentino surprisingly reviving the style!
With this in mind, it does hold out the slight glimmer of hope that this style may yet make a return for a future principal or alternate.
Seymour: Poc stylings (various)
Style used from: (2021-???)
This is not necessarily a specific style, more so a collective group of stylings which appear to be slowly fading in both originality and cultural significance.
Very quick background. It took a WHILE for SIX to cast a Seymour who was a Woc, the 1st time only occurring in November 2021 with Claudia Kariuki.
Claudia paved the way for a role that was previously reserved for actors with more stereotypical "maternal" appearances, opening doors for both Poc & plus-sized actresses!

Despite this immense sucsess with breaking down previously set barriers on a role, there has been some fairly spesific.....alterations to actors who take on the role, predominately focussed on their hair.
Using current 2025-26 Broadway Alternate Aiyana Smash as an example, Smash has naturally curly hair. Something which is utilized and taken into account for with her other 2 covers Aragon and Parr. For Seymour, however, we get this.
Not only are her curls tightened & straightened significantly in the wig, there is also no callbacks to any form of cultural or personal significance, things which once again, both her other covers allude to in their stylings.
Whose styling does it fall perfectly in line with, however? Principal Seymour, Kelsie Watts.
If it were only Aiyana who had been affected in this seemingly recent change in styling, it may be able to be written off, but if looking at recent casting choices (predominately in the Uk) the number of Poc Seymour's, both covers and alternates, is decreasing with an increasingly rapid pace, with only one Poc Principal Seymour currently casted in ANY production of SIX.
(Edit: Did not realize this would be THAT long of a post, so expect my other 3 opinions some point this week in a separate post💀)
