Why did Roxanne get the back ponytail and Leah the side one if they both had straight/wavy hair?

I'm not sure why they did it that way for that cast specifically, but generally the choice of side vs back pony seemed to be partially hair texture, particularly cultural heritage via racial/ethnic identity, and partially actor's preference (particularly in the US where they seem to prioritize that more).
