book asks! 14, 17, 22!
14. What books do you want to finish before the year is over?
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab... just so I can be done it at this point, I’m not sure I’m feeling all that enthusiastic about it (Victoria Schwab’s books often seem to just.. miss the mark for me a bit? I can’t quite put a finger on why, though.)
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
Hmm... Return of the Thief by Megan Whalen Turner surprised me in the way in which it was good, if that makes sense. I was nervous about that one for a lot of reasons. It was my second or third try to read Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and I finally got past the first few pages and really enjoyed it (it turns out Harrowhark appeals to me because I just enjoy tiny, scrawny, deeply unpleasant characters).
22. What’s the longest book you read?
According to Goodreads, Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare (The Last Hours #1). I’ve kind of accepted that I’m in it for the long haul with the Shadowhunters stuff... also I was so incredibly amused by that glimpse of the the parents (previous series MCs) having a conversation where they’re like “hmm I’m worried that our kids have no life skills, back in our day we learned by getting attacked by monsters daily”... I probably shouldn’t have been entertained but I really, really was.
