//REUNITED// - (Carapace and Shatterscream)
Shatterscream was asleep.
And there wasn't one dream that wasn't plagued with guilt.
Sometimes he saw the Vehicons, terrified as they were brutally slaughtered by the Autobots. Sometimes it was Soundwave, lost somewhere, spark fluttering as it tried desperately to function. And sometimes he saw Lord Megatron, those burning, loving optics dimming in his final moments, body becoming a sparkling comet as it plummeted toward the Earth.
So many faces of those he had lost. Of those he could not save.
He had failed. All that the Decepticons had worked toward, gone. And now he was confined to the one place he had never expected to see as a prison: his home.
And this recharge was no different from the others, fraught with the faces of the fallen.
But then, suddenly, something changed. The edges of the nightmare began to dim, and another face appeared. One he had not seen for some time.
The dream dissipated then, his optics coming online.
It seemed he was back in his counterpart's world.
He sat up, rubbing the back of his helm slowly. The dream was now fading, but the feeling that it had impressed upon him remained.
Something was telling him to search for a signal.
One that he hadn't contacted for some time now.
Was he only going to find disappointment...?
He had to do it, though. He just had to try.
He opened up a comm. channel, and called for Carapace.
