I have become someone I used to know

not recognising the person staring back at me.

I live only in darkness

trapped there by my mind.

My smile has drained from my face

and the memory of you has been erased.

My screams are trapped within my throat

unable to break free and release me from my prison cell.

My heart refuses to beat

from the heartache that stopped my happiness

Cloud Gazing

Under the moonless sky,

with my eyes glistening with tears.

I watch and I listen for a sign,

a whisper,

anything to show you are near.

I sit and I’m still,

with the wheels in my mind

churning a thousand times or more.

Reminding myself that mistakes of the past mean nothing,

when we reach the end.

Silly squabbles disappear,

and regret of decisions made in anger often set in.
