When Emery comes home from work, she doesn't expect to smell apples and cinnamon. "Baby, what are you doing?" Em ask walking into the kitchen to see you standing over the stove.
You turn setting a hand on your belly. "making fresh apple sauce." You smile.
"New craving?" She asks walking over. Em kisses your cheek and sets her hand over your's.
"Little bit. I'm mainly craving latkes but I need apple sauce and all our friends finished it while they were here." You wince as the baby kicks.
"Fucking Robby," Em mutters as she mixes the pot.
"Oh he hasn't had a home cooked meal in months." You say looking at the apples. "Maybe a few minutes in the food processor will help smooth it out." You muse going to grab it.
Em watches you. It was the last Hanukkah with just the two of you. The little one growing inside you would be joining the world around April. So you planned a big party with friends and coworkers.
Em hadn't fought with you because, well you were the one carrying a baby.
"You okay, Em?" You ask tilting your head.
"Yea, just tired."
"Well go sleep." You smile. "I'll join you once I'm done."
You peck her lips before going back to the sauce. Em sighs before heading for the master bedroom.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Your right this does taste better home made." Em dips her latke into the apple sauce before taking another bit.
"Told you." You gloat finishing off another latke. "So ready to talk?"
She sighs and wipes her hands off. "I'm just…Do you hate having to be the one pregnant?"
You blink at her, "Why would I?"
Em shrugs, "You just seem quieter recently."
You smile softly and move closer to her. Em wraps her arm around your waist. "Growing another human in my body is exhausting. When I'm not craving food or sex," Em fights off a smirk. "I'm exhausted. I'm quiet because my mind is occupied with dozens of things that make me even more exhausted."
"So, not mad?"
You tilt her to face you before pressing your lips to hers. Em deepens the kiss, tightening her hold on your waist.
You pull away slightly, "How can I be mad when I'm having a baby with my dream woman?" You smile seeing the red fill in Emery's cheeks.
"Well now your just flattering me."
"I thought you waking to find me riding your—" Em cuts you off by kissing you again. The taste of apples and potatoes flooding your senses.
Gimli son of Glóin came to sluggishly on a low rickety bunk that creaked and groaned with his every breath. If the horse lords of Rohan held one fault, it was that they were the sort whose saddles and stables were more luxurious than their own beds, even here in the golden hall of Meduseld. He still had not opened his eyes, nor moved, nor weighed in on anything but the sorry state of his cot. Nevertheless, Gimli knew a hangover when he felt one.
I didn’t have it in me to make a graphic so here’s my adventure time Gigolas again 😂
So, it’s been hard for me to write recently, and I’ve been sitting here, beating my head against the desk, like- I used to write *so much* what the hell is happening?
Then, tonight, I looked at what the last month or so has been like for me and I realized- it’s totally a spoons issue. I am not suddenly bad at writing, I’m trying to write on borrowed spoons. Like- no fucking wonder.
On the other hand, I’ve read -almost 30 books since last October, which isn’t bad for me!
So I have been balls deep in an SPN rewatch and decided to dabble in Destiel. I have some lovely PWP on offer inspired by Cas watching pornos with Sam and & Dean in the room (and later just Dean 😏😏😏)
Worries of an Arranged Marriage (Viserys x reader)
Masterlist
Viserys Targaryen x reader
Warnings: Standard Game of Thrones language and stuff, arranged marriages, pregnancy
Lady Y/n and Daenerys walked through the curtains leading outside and came to stand behind Illyrio and Viserys as they waited for Khal Drogo.
Viserys glanced back, making sure his sister was presentable. His eyes lingered on his wife, watching her as she conversed with Daenerys. His mind drifted back nearly a month when she had brought their son into the world.
Up until that day, their interactions had been pleasant and formal, following the duties their marriage required. But something had compelled him as he heard her screams of pain. He needed to be by her side. They had tried to keep him out of the birthing chamber at first—It isn’t a place for men—but he pushed past, immediately going to his wife’s side.
It was long, hot, and completely unenjoyable, but Viserys knew he had to stay. Part of him wondered if he had gone mad. He had never been the kind of man to dote on the whims of women. It was Y/n that convinced him of the truth. Her eyes were fearful and full of tears, but when he took her hand and told her it would be okay, they softened. It may have been his imagination, but he could have sworn she smiled.
Then, at the end, when all the screaming had ceased, and Y/n could catch her breath, Viserys was presented with his son. He had cried, soft, silent tears that dripped down his face and splashed onto the babe’s blanket. This was his son, a prince and heir to the Iron Throne, worthy of all the spoils in the world. Viserys surprised himself again; the only person he could think of sharing this moment with was the woman resting in the bed beside him.
He turned to her. She had propped herself up on the pillows and was watching the interaction between father and son. In a single stride, he was again by her side. They sat huddled together, their son between them. The parents smiled at the baby, their heads leaning against each other.
“Aerys,” Viserys whispered, “after my father.” Y/n had smiled at him, nodding, and he had kissed her then: perhaps the first real kiss they shared, a kiss filled with real love.
His eyes locked on hers in the heat of the mid-morning sun as they waited. She smirked, and Viserys nearly blushed at getting caught ogling his wife. He quickly disguised his lust with anger.
“Where is he?” he demanded, facing forward once again.
“The Dothraki are not known for their punctuality,” Illyrio responded.
At that moment, the pounding of hooves echoed from the road. Several Dothraki rode to the base of the mansion’s stairs.
Illyrio stepped forward, greeting the Dothraki in their native tongue. Y/n translated.
“May I present my honoured guests? Viserys of House Targaryen, the third of his name. The rightful King of the Andals and the First Men. And his sister, Daenerys, of the House Targaryen.”
Viserys pulled Daenerys to him, whispering to her. “Do you see how long his hair is?” Khal Drogo’s hair was braided down his back and rested on the back of his horse. “When Dothraki are defeated in combat, they cut off their braid so the whole world can see their shame. Khal Drogo has never been defeated. He’s a savage, of course, but he’s one of the finest killers alive. And you will be his queen.”
Illyrio glanced back to the small group, gesturing Daenerys forward. “Come forward, my dear.”
Daenerys walked to the Khal; her eyes locked with his. There was a moment of silence as they stared each other down. Then, without a word, he rode off, leading his Dothraki away.
Viserys stormed down to the end of the stairs, watching the horses disappear. “Where’s he going?”
“The ceremony is over,” Illyrio said.
“But he didn’t say anything. Did he like her?”
“Trust me, Your Grace. If he didn’t like her, we’d know.”
The four went for a walk through Illyrio’s gardens. Daenerys and Y/n trailed behind, locked arm-in-arm as they admired the freshly blooming flowers.
“Are you excited to get married?” Y/n asked.
Daenerys hesitated. “If we want to return to our home, we need an army. Khal Drogo will provide that for us.”
Y/n nudged her. “That’s not what I asked.” She halted their movements, letting the men walk further away. When she was sure they could not hear, she spoke again. “Tell me the truth. Do you not want to marry the Khal?”
Daenerys frowned. “It’s not that I am afraid to marry him; I’m afraid to marry anyone. I don’t know what to expect and what he’ll expect of me. What if I’m not a good wife?”
Y/n hummed as they continued their stroll. “You know, when my father said that I would marry your brother, I was very nervous. It was months before you arrived that he first mentioned the prospect of our marriage, but he changes his mind so often, so I didn’t believe him—at least until I met you two. I didn’t get long to prepare myself. You remember we got married a week after you arrived. I had the same worries and no time to deal with them.” She paused to pick a bellflower from its bush, twirling it between her fingers. “It wasn’t easy at first.” She tucked the flower behind Daenerys’ ear. “We were amicable, of course—we did our duty to each other—but it wasn’t until the end of my pregnancy that we started to really love each other.”
One of the servants came from the house, carrying Aerys. She handed the babe to Y/n with a nod and took a few steps back, following them from a distance. Y/n enjoyed spending time with her son, even if he couldn’t do much yet, and if she had the opportunity, she would bring him along on her walks through the garden. Often, if a servant spotted Y/n taking a walk in the gardens, they would bring Aerys to her when he woke.
“Hello, my sweet boy,” she smiled down at the babe, Daenerys peering over her shoulder to tickle him. They continued their walk, spotting the men waiting at one of the outlooks ahead. “I won’t lie, it may be difficult, but I will be there for you. If you have questions or if you’re worried about something, you can come to me.”
“There you are,” Viserys called to the girls. “We were beginning to wonder if you got lost. And how is my tiny prince?” He smiled down at his boy, placing a quick kiss on Y/n’s cheek.
Daenerys kept quiet, her eyes on the ground.
“What are you talking about?” Y/n asked as Viserys took her arm, and they all continued walking.
“The Targaryen return to Westeros,” Illyrio replied.
“When will they be married?” Viserys asked.
“Soon. The Dothraki never stay still for long.”
“Is it true they lie with their horses?” Y/n elbowed her husband. He frowned at her.
“I wouldn’t ask Khal Drogo.”
“Do you take me for a fool?”
“I take you for a king. Kings lack the caution of common men. My apologies if I’ve given offence.”
“I know how to play a man like Drogo. I give him a queen, and he gives me an army.”
“I don’t want to be his queen,” Daenerys piped up from behind, finally looking up. “I want to go home.”
Viserys left his wife, marching to stand directly in front of his sister. “So, do I. I want us both to go home. But they took it from us.” He kept his voice tense. “So, tell me, sweet sister, how do we go home?”
“I don’t know.”
“We go home with an army. With Khal Drogo’s army. I would let his whole tribe fuck you, all 40,000 men and their horses too if that’s what it took.” He kissed her forehead and walked away, not sparing anyone a glance. After a moment, Illyrio followed him.
Y/n stepped closer to Daenerys. “It won’t come to that. I promise you.” She brought the girl close, letting her rest against her shoulder as they walked back. “I’ll talk to Viserys. No one shall harm you.”
"What are you talking about?" Imra half whispered from the motel bed she was trying to get some sleep in. She didn't know how Garth knew she was awake, but from the even breathing coming from Rokk's bed, she assumed the question was directed at her. Garth, who was on watch, had "borrowed" a deck chair from the motel pool and was sitting by the window. The light coming in between the cracks in the curtain outlined his profile in the darkness. Every detail of his short yet still somehow unkempt ginger hair stood out in the beam.
"Well, I was thinking, if Roman gods and monsters are real then why shouldn't all those myths be real as well." He didn't turn away from the window but Imra still sat up. It was almost time to switch shifts anyways so she might as well get up.
"Then how do you explain the neanderthal?" She asked, deciding to humour him. Garth shrugged,
"Hack scientists?" Imra snorted, refusing to give him the full satisfaction of a laugh. She would never admit it but his boyish nature and bravado was starting to grow on her ever since the three left Lupa's house.
"You know, they say that the bacteria with the source of life came from an asteroid. That means we technically came from space." Imra now sat with her arms around her legs and chin resting on her knees, trying her best not to fall back asleep.
"Oh is that what these hack scientists say now," Garth asked playing with the curtains.
"Mhm," Imra nodded with her eyes closed trying to stifle a yawn. “They say that we all came from stardust. If that’s true, I think that you came from the Sun.” The shock of realizing what she just said was enough to keep her awake until sun up. Garth finally took his eyes off the window and turned to her.
"What? Why?"
"I dunno," Imra tried covering her ass, "I guess it's because you have so much energy." 'And not because you smile brightens up a room or anything.' She thought to herself glad that the room was too dark for him to see her blush. She met his gaze hoping he would believe it.
"Huh, I was hoping you would say 'it’s cause you're so hot.’" He teased trying to mimic her voice.
"In your dreams." She scoffed. "Speaking of which, it's my shift."
The two young demigods switched places and settled in. Garth was snoring softly before either of them could think of saying goodnight leaving Imra to her own thoughts about origins and Stardust as she watched for the earliest signs of sunrise.
Jessie Smith was stumped. Arms folded and her head cocked, she regarded the glowing ball of light hovering in the clearing. The woods were drenched in a lime green shine, so bright it was like a high powered lantern.
Jessie heard wheels crunching over leaves and looked over her shoulder. Maxine Beira was on her bike, mouth agape at the bright light. She parked by a tree and joined Jessie in looking at the light.
“You weren’t kidding!” Beira said, peering at the anomaly. “When you said it was bright I didn’t think you meant it lit up the whole night!”
“So do you have any idea what this thing is, girl?” Jessie asked. “I don’t have the first clue.”
Beira shrugged. “How should I know? You know more about this stuff than me.”
Jessie shrugged. “You’re into paranormal and UFOs and shit.”
“Vampires,” Beira insisted. “I don’t know a thing about UFOs!”
Both girls looked at the sphere. It was about the size of a soccer ball, and Jessie felt a mild urge to kick it. She didn’t dare though; what if the thing exploded or was super hot or was hard enough to break her toes?
Beira pulled up a stick. “Let’s poke it and see what happens.”
Jessie held her breath as her best friend extended her stick, the tip about to touch the green surface. It never reached it. The sphere pulled away under its own power, humming noises coming from it now.
Before either could react, it zoomed straight up, vanishing into the night sky.
The next day, Maxine and Jessie met at The Dog Pound during lunch break.
“That sure was weird,” said Maxine, bent over and holding her stomach. She was really hungry and a chili dog sounded good, but money was tight after buying that expensive new electric shaver; she didn’t want to spend too much.
“Yeah, sure was,” said Jessie as she ate a sausage with sauerkraut and drenched in ketchup and mustard. She noticed Maxine’s lack of lunch and thought about buying it for her, but the way she was holding her stomach looked like she was feeling sick.
“So does this mean aliens are real?” asked Maxine, her stomach beginning to growl.
“Maybe,” Jessie mused. “There’s already a lot of weird shit in the world, so maybe there’s a lot of weird shit off the world, you know?” Poor Maxine looked so queasy. Why was she torturing herself being around food?
“Yeah, I guess so.” Maxine folded her arms on the counter and rested her head on them.
“What do you think life is like on other planets?” Jessie asked, chewing sauerkraut. “Maybe that thing was controlled by tiny green people, as big as ants.”
“Ants, huh?”
“Maybe they shrank themselves. On their planet, they’re actually as big as elephants!”
“I wonder what alien food’s like? Must be nice. Maybe glowing green pudding…”
“Glowing pudding? Girl, you’re weird.”
“And they can tell I’m a girl just by looking at me. Even without transitioning.”
“Now that’s cool. I bet they got their act together and don’t have racism any more either. How could a bunch of racists make it this far in space, anyway? They would’ve blown themselves up first.”
Maxine clutched her stomach. “I’m going to head back for school. I just can’t stand being around all this food now!”
Jessie watched her friend leave, glad she hadn’t bought her lunch. It looked like Maxine was pretty sick.
Most at the Pitt believed Robby did mornings shift simply because Abbott preferred nights (which he does). They also thought he was all rock music and sports teams (which he is). Except, of course, Dana and Abbott knew the truth and of course today was one of those days the truth was harder to hide.
"So why does Dr. Robby have a suit with him?" Javadi asks Dana as she hands off discharge papers.
"None of your business, kid." Dana smiles and files the form.
"Maybe he has a hot date tonight." Santos muses. "Fancy restaurant and all that shit."
"I did see a show ticket sticking out of his backpack this morning," Mel mentions as she looks over a patient's chart.
"Like a stage show?" Whitaker asks.
Dana looks at them, "Don't you all have patients to check or residents to learn from?" They all look at her before she waves them away. "Go."
They scatter as Robby walks over setting his tablet away. "What was that about?"
"Your suit bag."
He ahs then leans on the counter, "That was a bad idea on my part."
"Hey, you're the one married to a stage actress." Dana points out.
He chuckles, "I know. You get your tickets?"
She nods, "Takin my youngest for some bounding time."
"Good, Y/N knows and is up for a backstage tour if you want." He says looking at his watch.
Dana notices he's fidgeting, "Her mom dropping the kids here or…"
"I'm meeting them at the theatre. They are always prepared for me to be late."
"Can't blame them."
Robby nods, "But hey, haven't missed a show in 15 years, even if I'm late."
Dana chuckles and shakes her head, "Just make sure you make it up to her."
He smirks at that, "Always. How do you think we ended up with three kids?"
Dana rolls her eyes and shoves at his shoulder, "Get away from my desk Robinavitch."
Robby laughs and goes to get his next patient.
----
You're sitting at your make up table when a knock sounds. "Come in," you say pulling off the fake eyelashes. Still something you didn't understand after almost 25 years of stage work.
"Mommy!" You smile at the chorus and turn in your chair to see your girls running to you.
"My darlings," you hug them and kiss their cheeks. Rachel and Naomi were 10 and 9, barely a year apart but they had your hair coloring and Robby's rich brown eyes. "Where's your dad and brother?"
"Right here," Robby says walking in with your four year old, Adam. Affectionately your COVID baby with you not having work and Robby having all that pent up stress, no one in your lives were surprised. Adam was all Robby and you couldn't even be mad about it. "We had a bathroom emergency." he explains as he walks over to you.
The girls walk over and sit on the couch grabbing books you keep in the room for them.
"You did wonderful tonight baby," he says laying a gentle kiss on your cheek.
"Hmm," you take Adam from him and kiss the little boy's cheek making him giggle. "Thank you. Noticed you were late." You look at your husband while hugging your son and rocking from side to side.
"It was actually traffic this time, I swear." Robby kisses your head. "But I'll make it up to you, as always baby."
"I'm holding you to that." You carefully take Adam's hands off your necklace. "No baby, that's not mommy's."
Robby quickly takes him back so you can finish getting out of your costume.
It was an order at this point. Since having kids, your costume went first, then you sit at your vanity to take off removable pieces: wigs, prosthetics, jewelry. Then you would wipe away the make up. Robby enjoyed that part most.
You washing away whatever character you took on and becoming his wife again: Y/N Robinavitch. Of course you used a stage name, but everyone who worked with you over the last 20 years knew you were married to an ER doctor.
"How was work today?" You ask him before starting to wipe the make up away.
"Fine, Dana's excited about seeing the show." He responses.
You look at him through the mirror. He adjusts Adam's shirt and does not look at you. "Baby, what happened?"
He sights lock with yours in the mirror and you know at least one awful thing happened today.
"I'll tell you at home." His sights turn back to Adam and it's all the comformation you need to know it includes a child.
Robby messages along your back while you two soak in the tub. He kisses along your neck and pulls you close. You hum and lay your head back on his shoulder. "You know this is a wonderful way to make it up to me."
Robby smiles and kisses your shoulder. "I like the old way but I know tomorrow is your double."
You groan and close your eyes, "I love my job but I hate matinee and night schedule."
Robby nods and takes your hands into his. "I'll have tea and warm pjs ready for you."
You smile and nuzzle his jaw, "Want to talk about today now?"
He sighs and holds you close, "Newborn died today due to complications with delivery."
Now you know why all his attention was on Adam.
After getting married, you two started planning for kids. Rachel had been born almost three years into your marriage when Robby was already in his thirties and then 18 months later, after finally getting full nights of sleep again, Naomi was born. Then nothing. After two years, you and Robby tried once more for a boy, but nothing. Then you began to travel again with your company and you decided your girls were enough.
Then COVID happened and you spent months out of work, at almost 40, you were fucking terrified of not getting back to work after the pandemic, so you threw yourself into being a stay at home mom. Then the stress started getting to Robby and you being a good wife, worked on helping him. Then one thing led to another and a few months later you found yourself pregnant with Adam.
Everything with your pregnancy was going smoothly, despite your age. Until the day you went into labor.
Complications, Robby had been told since he was barred from being in the room under the remaining COVID protocols. So he sat with your daughters trying to keep himself together as to not freak them out.
When Robby finally was able to see you, he worried you wouldn't wake up with how pale you looked. Then the doctor explained the complications had been Umbilical Cord Prolapse. Thankfully it was caught early and you were rushed into an emergency C-section. It, of course, unlocked a whole new fear in Robby.
Which brings you to today, Robby trying to figure out how he and his team missed it.
"He's fine, Robby. I'm fine." You whisper kissing along his jaw. "You did everything you could today. I'm sure even a OB would have missed it."
"Still failed." He mutters, his fingers ghosting along your C-section scar.
"You can't beat yourself up. You know that."
He sighs and kisses your head. "I know, it's the 'what if's that are stuck."
You turn and look at him. "You are an exceptional doctor, Michael. A good father, a loving husband." You stroke his cheek. "You could waste away with your second guessing. But it can't change anything." You look into his eyes, "Please don't disappear like you did after Adamson or Pitt Fest."
He sees your eyes get glassy. Leaning his forehead against yours he quietly says, "I'm sorry." He hugs you close, "I'm sorry, I'm not going anywhere."
You hug him back and close your eyes melting into his warm embrace. "I think you owe me double now. Late and making me pull you from the edge?" You smile at the sound of his laugh.
"Well I have the next few days off, soo breakfast in bed?" Robby asks.
"Hmm yes, very much yes." You say smiling before kissing him. He hums and holds you close deepening the kiss.
