Since this post will span more than one of the SJ Maas “Court” books I’ve decided to put it together as my favorite Prythian Scenes. So in honor of this blog reaching 305 followers as promised for all of my SJ Maas fandome friends and followers here they are.
In no particular order my favorite scenes from Rhys and Feyre’s story.
When Elain says out loud what were ALL thinking about those damn Queens: I hope they all burn in hell.
When Feyre first goes riding with Lucien and the obvious brotp that will develop between them can be seen.
When Lucien gives Feyre the jeweled dagger as an apology for hesitating that day. (Seriously Feyre that should have been your first clue this was not the male that would stand up for you against Tamlin).
When Feyre throws the bone shard like a javelin at Amarantha. Why is there no fan art of that scene!!
Every scene the Bone Carver appears in but especially the one where Feyre finds out he’s been appearing to her as her future. (you know the entire fandome lost their collective minds at that scene!!!)
I’m going to catch so much flack for this one but one of my favorite scene because it’s so pivotal to the story is when Elain faces Grayson for the first time after being put into the cauldron. The emotion of that scene is equal parts heartbreaking and enraging. You know you all wanted to kill that dude slowly and painfully for the way he treated our Elain, our trembling fawn, our gentle grower of things. I really believe it’s this moment when Elain begins to break away from this idea of courtly love and I firmly believe this moment will be a key in the future books to show her own character’s development which will bring her closer to Lucien.
When Nesta realizes that her father didn’t forget about her. I cry EVERYTIME!!
When Feyre and the Night Court attend the High Lords meeting. I mean just that scene alone made ACOWAR worth it.
Quite possibly my favorite scene in all three books would be when Feyre out maneuvers Iantha at the Summer Solstice. Tell me you weren’t reveling in revenge fantasies during that whole scene.
Feyre making friends with the monster in the library. Bryaxis is so precious and the way he comes to Feyre’s rescue like that’s my scary nightmare monster.
When Cassian tells Nesta his only regret is that they didn’t have more time. Titanic Feels yall!!!
Of course there’s the infamous Calanmi night up in the cabin where Rhys finally tells the story to Feyre of how he came to love her and that she was his mate. Soup and paints...those hot steamy scenes between them yeah those were good but in my opinion the BEST scene between Rhys and Feyre wasn’t the cabin scene...it was the Throne Room scene. Here’s why: Feyre not only faces her fear of going under another mountain she does so in the face of the very court that Amarantha models hers after. A the beginning of ACOMAF Feyre begs Tamlin not to let Rhys take her..she is terrified of being brought under that mountain. Now she’s facing this fear not for herself but for the Court of Dreams and her family and all those of Prythian. In this moment she is truly, completely selfless in her character. The other reason is this: That moment when Rhys sees her in the Night Court finery and his eyes glaze over in lust and EVERY MOMENT BETWEEN them after that in that throne room is GOALS!!! It’s that breathless anticipation, the “what if” the “almost” the tension building and in the midst of all of this Feyre yielding to that absolute image of Female Power. When she says “I was beautiful, and I was deadly” every woman who read that scene could identify with what Feyre was feeling. We’ve all experienced it at one time or another and I though Maas did a fantastic job of showcasing it in that scene. More than the cabin scene I loved Feyre and Rhys in the throne room.
Speaking of thrones and rooms and deadly power I also loved the scene in ACOWAR when Rhys brings Feyre back to the Night Court but this time he showcases her as his mate and as powerful. Like in my head I just saw this:
Azriel giving Elain Truth Teller. I can’t even think about that scene without crying it’s also the scene that made me ok with the idea of her and Azriel being end game. We still don’t know if that’s going to happen but whether she ends up with Lucien (my personal fave) or Azriel (My second choice) or no one at all I’m cool with it and it’s all because of that scene.
Staying with the Azriel theme that moment in ACOMAF when Azriel says to Feyre “You get used to the wording” and then admits to Feyre that he doesn’t really know where he belongs either. Like my heart.....my heart died a little and then I wanted to erect a fence around Azriel and protect him from all harm!!! Like I was his personal Valkryie and would shred anyone who attempted to hurt him from that moment forward.
I’ve saved it for last because he’s gotten such a bad rep throughout these books but let’s not forget that Tamlin had some pretty memorable scenes in these books as well. He’s the Fae Lord we all love to hate. He’s Feyre’s first love in the books and the reason Rhys was jealous in the first and second books. Say what you will but without him there would be no Feyre and Rhys so here they are the scenes with Tamlin that I loved in all three books:
Tamlin awkwardly tells Feyre she doesn’t look dirty anymore when she first comes to Prythian. Flirting skills on point.
Tamlin growling at Lucien to “back off” in the first books because he’s threatened by the fox boy’s skills with the ladies, specifically Feyre.
Tamlin playing the fiddle for Feyre on the first Summer Solstice she experienced in Prythian.
Tamlin admitting he can’t protect her and letting her go back home to her family.
Tamlin sex scenes. Hate that dude all you want you know those scenes are HOT!! You know just because he’s a dick doesn’t mean he can’t still be good in bed. (Every straight woman at some point in her life).
Tamlin in ACOWAR when Feyre broke into Hybern’s camp to rescue Elain. That moment gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, Tamlin could be redeemed.
I have so many more that I could add to this list because those three books were amazing but this post is long enough and it’s Friday so I’m outta here.
