Opinions on the SK English dub regarding ren and Jeanne: I’m actually not a fan of the SK dubs in both the anime adaptions (4kids and Sk2021 reboot)

I didn’t liked 4kids rens voice and the fact they made him sound British. I’ve seen ppl argue that he could be Chinese British but I find that bullshit. I also did not liked how he sounded so feminine in the 2021 reboot like yeah, I get that they wanted to make him sound like his age but I still really didn't vibed with it

I’m also not a big fan of Jeanne’s voice either. Don’t get me wrong, her English VA voice is lovely and she’s just doing her job but I just can’t really vibe with a 9-10 year old sounding like a full grown 30+ year old woman and not sounding like her age. (You can argue that her Japanese seiyuu, yui horie is also a woman in her 40s but atleast she actually has voice range and made Jeanne sounded like her proper age like a actual young girl) Besides that, I can totally see her English VA being a perfect fit for adult Jeanne, just not for younger Jeanne. I still find it very confusing they chose to make Yoh, Ren and Lyserg to all sound like actual kids but they don't want to make Jeanne sound like her proper age. ??????????????????

Do not get me started on adult rens English voice actor. I actually genuinely hated it and you can tell his Eng VA was completely disinterested voicing him, it felt very lackluster and you can just tell from the sound of his voice, he didn’t give a fuck about the character but rather he’s just there for the quick bucks and then dip because it was such a small minor role. 0/10 terrible dilf, I’ve expected better

Some key-notes:

In the original SK Japanese manga, Jeanne refers Ren's name as "Tao Ren" while Ren refers Jeanne as "Maiden". However Kodansha's translation of this is incorrect so please keep that in mind. In the sequels however, he calls her by her first actual name

In the 2001 anime, everyone, including Ren, calls Jeanne by her first actual name but this is not canon
