new holiday renga fic!

I was planning on participating in the 12 days of Christmas challenge, but unfortunately life happened so here's a little fic inspired by the day 3 prompts (snowed in and hot chocolate)

Summary:

When Reki and Langa get snowed in, Langa decides to make hot chocolate. It doesn't go as planned.

Or: Langa pines and makes hot chocolate while Reki sleeps, like, the entire time.

LANGA KNOWS HOW TO TRANSLATE IT IN JAPANESE：感情（かんじょう）, KANJŌ．emotion is something the young man has always felt, like everyone else; it would appear whenever he’d find himself thinking about his family and friends, riding his skateboard, and spending time with reki.

〝you guys might as well marry each other, huh?!〞his classmates would laugh while patting his back; silly jokes langa didn’t understand at first— and this time, it wasn’t because of the language barrier.

〝i didn’t know gay marriage was also a thing here,〞he’d naively reply, staring at the formerly-white ceiling now covered in dead flies and funny drawings.

it’d earn him surprised gasps, his classmates rushing to his side to ask more about canada and langa’s western beliefs.

〝yo, we were kiddin’! gay marriage?〞they’d promptly ask with stars in their eyes, japanese teenagers who never got the chance to travel and expand their horizons, already too fascinated by langa’s mixed roots to even think of same-sex relationships.

those were fantasies made by and for women, only seen in mangas and dramas, a taboo no one cared to talk about— don’t think anything of it, judge them without understanding, move on.

LANGA TAUGHT HIS CLASSMATES ABOUT GAY MARRIAGE, TELLING THEM ABOUT CANADIAN LAWS AND THE PRIDE；some of them had already heard of the event, the rainbow-coloured month, the cheers and kisses lost between couples from all horizons. when talking about men, the girls were the most eager; when talking about women, the boys were the most eager.

when talking about reki, langa was the most eager.

〝so wait— if you could,〞they’d ask with confused looks,〝would you marry reki? like, for real?〞

it wouldn’t take long for langa to reply:

〝yes, we’re friends.〞

it’d earn him desperate sighs.

LANGA DOESN’T LIKE TO THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT STUFF：life doesn’t need to be complicated. all he needs to do is embrace every part of it, and let emotion come and go.

reki and him are friends; it’s as simple as that. langa likes reki, reki likes langa.

langa doesn’t like complicated things: he’d marry reki because he’d marry a friend, and his father always told him he had married his best friend— langa’s mom. it doesn’t need to be romantic, it doesn’t need to be platonic; it doesn’t need to be anything, except them loving each other and being happy together. it’s probably too simple for his classmates’ minds, but langa finds it complicated enough already. life doesn’t need to get even more complicated.

〝i’ve seen a new trick on youtube last night,〞langa hums as he walks to his locker with reki beside him. he mindlessly unlocks it, his blue bangs framing his pale face, and pulls the door towards him,〝do you think you could teach m—〞

langa can’t finish his sentence: an avalanche of paper falls on him, burying him and making him unable to see for long seconds. He’s buried in letters and heart-shaped boxes.

right, he thinks to himself, valentine’s day is a thing here as well.

the young man wiggles his body like a worm to get his head out of the unbelievably large amount of presents, then looks around: lots of boxes equals lots of chocolates. his stomach groans happily at the thought.

〝do you like white chocolate? oh, there’s mint too!〞his body still buried in the avalanche, he looks around then up to reki with a smile on his lips, ready to share with him.

platonic reki comfort i wrote cause i was feeling bad </3

You played with Reki’s fingers as he watched skateboarding videos. Sometimes even pointing out little things to you. Other than that it was a comfortable silence. He knew something was wrong the moment he opened the door to see your soaked figure looking absolutely dejected. Now you were sporting one of his hoodies and a pair of sweats that were just a tad bit too big for you, not that either of you cared. He just couldn’t help but worry though. You two grew up together and he took quite pride in being able to guess what you’re thinking. Right now he had no idea what was going on in your head but he was definitely willing to give some comfort.

“Hey, can I ask you something?” Reki paused his video to give you his full attention. “Do…do you think I’m too much?” Honestly you were scared of his answer. What if he said yes? What if this was finally his opportunity to get rid of you? God, just thinking about it made tears form. Upon not receiving an answer you let out a dry laugh beginning to sit up. “A-Actually it was a stupid question. I’ll just- mph.” Reki pulled you back down into a hug successfully cutting you off.

“It’s not stupid. Who told you that, huh?” You wrapped your arms around him shrugging. “You aren’t too much. You are fine how you are. If anyone tells you otherwise, me and Langa will personally go fight them.”

Hii! Can I please request a Reki (sk8) x reader scenario with prompt 19, please?

It was somewhat normal for you to encounter a sleepy Reki every afternoon, whether it was at your place or his, he seemed to always be... a lot more quiet than in the morning.

"Reki, are you sure you're doing alright?" You asked tilting your head at the ginger, who had just looked up from his phone. He smiled, "Yeah, I'm alright, Y/n!" He paused, and copied your posture. "Was there something about me that said otherwise?" He asked in return, subconsciously scooting towards you with a curious expression on his face.

"You just seem like you need some rest, love." You hummed in response, setting your phone down beside you. Reki groaned quietly. "Langa told me the same thinggg-!" He whined, letting his head fall on your shoulder. You couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "Well I know for a fact you've been out for at least three to four hours every night, and almost immediately go on your phone when You're finally back." You mused, glancing at his messy red hair.

You could feel him stiffen on your shoulder as he fell quiet. "Yeahhh.." he muttered, looking up at you once more. Too damn cute.

"Come with me a moment, Reki," you started, jumping up from Your sitting position on the floor. He looked at you in confusion as you padded over to his bed, laid down, and opened your arms to him.

"Come here." You basically commanded the boy, making a grabby motion with your hands at him.

He did so with slight reluctance, and crawled into your arms with a groan followed by a satisfied sigh as he nestled into your chest. "You need rest, Reki." You hummed, "and I'm fairly sure this is the only way to get you to sleep." You stated as you threaded your fingers through his hair.

He wasn't listening. All he wanted in that moment was to listen to your heartbeat, and hold you close.

He stopped you mid-reprimand with a quiet mumble.

"Hmm.. You're warm.."

How They Comfort You After A Bad Day - Sk8 The Infinity

LANGA

- tries to understand why your day was bad and if he can do anything to fix it

- at first he doesn't quite understand that you don't want advice as much as comfort but once he gets it then he's really good at it

- he can be fairly touchy in general but when you're upset, he holds you just that little bit closer to him

- puts on some soft music n just sways with you until the tears stop and you're starting to calm down

- honestly? his comfort comes in the form of cuddles and a nap

- maybe a movie if it's too early for a nap (but you'll probably fall asleep anyways to be fair)

- you end up laying almost on him and him rubbing circles on your back, telling you about his day or a new skating trick to try and cheer you up

- lots of kisses, like so many

- what can he say, he enjoys kissing you and if it stops you worrying about your day then he is willing to make that sacrifice

REKI

- he is a mess to be honest, the prospect of you being upset it daunting to him

- don’t get me wrong, he is amazing at comforting you but you can tell how nervous he is the first few times

- he's never been the most apt listener in the world but he is good at it specifically for these situations

- because he's a simp but don't call him out cause he'll deny it with every bone in his body

- kinda has to ask his mum what to do because he's a little clueless but absolutely takes what she says to heart

- buys all your favourite junk food on the way to your house and then takes you out to cheer you up

- nothing like midnight mcdonalds with reki

- he tries his best to take you out and do things he knows will cheer you up, even if that means watching your oh-so cool boyfriend fall of his skateboard and eat shit on the floor

SHADOW

- please it would absolutely break his heart to see you upset

- does everything he can think of to make you feel better

- mainly things you've enjoyed in the past like buying you flowers, movie nights and bringing you food back from Joe's

- makes sure to compliment you extra hard the moment he notices your mood souring

- in general, he is such a sweet force to be around if you’re upset because it’s so obvious how much he cares about you and settling your mind down

- even if it’s out of his comfort zone, he knows yours so well and will do anything to keep a smile on your face

CHERRY

- immediately one of my best recommendations to go to when you're having a bad day

- simply because he just has such a calm aura and i such a good listener

- in a way that makes you feel listened to but also like you can say whatever you want

- will take you to get food or something once you've calmed down and ill either sit in silence with you or listen to you rant

- chances are, he's not one for trying to make you giggle but that's not always what you need

- he is such a calming force and even the feeling of his hands rubbing up and down your shoulder can make the stress of the day melt away

- if you end up crying, 10/10 will just cuddle you into his shoulder and hum until you feel better

- won't say a word past small comforting phrases until you're done crying and then he'll ask if you need anything

- most f the time it just ends with you curled under his arm in your bed, him cuddling away your bad day

KOJIRO

- I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say he might maybe cook you comfort food, who knows why?

- jkjk but seriously, this man has mastered every love language in the book and he knows which ones you react to best in whatever situations

- and he is so good at reading your emotions too, that the moment you walk in he knows exactly what kind of mood your in and starts trying his best to comfort you from the get go

- queue a smile and a ‘hi gorgeous, how was your day?’ Accompanied with a hug because he can tell you need it

- leads you to the sofa so you can cuddle into his side while you tell him about your day, making sure to keep his tension on you at all times to show you he cares

- is the most sympathetic person, wiping away your tears n whispering ‘don’t cry baby, you’re home now right?’

- will sit you at the kitchen table while he cooks so he can keep and eye on you and give you kisses between adding spices to the dish

- runs you a hot bath while you rest from eating only to bring you candles and a fancy bath bomb from the bathroom so you can pick which one to use

- spoils you completely and then cuddles you to sleep afterwards 🥺

ADAM

- dramatic asshole

- seriously, he takes your bad days as like a personal offense from the universe because how dare something negative happen to his love

- twirls you around as soon as you get in the door, pulling you close and whispering 'what's got my little love so upset hmm?'

- has a weird way of showing it but is genuinely concerned about you

- but, obviously, ainosuke can't get too open about his feelings, comforting you is about as open as he goes

- gets your favourite food made by his chefs or delivered to his house and has it brought up to his bedroom

- where you two are curled up under mountains of pillows, you curled up on his chest

- if he is able to, he loves messing with your hair to calm you down, threading it through his fingers and scratching at your scalp

- will literally spoon feed you if he needs to, doesn't want his prince/princess getting too tired now

- one of the few times ainosuke is actually cute

your eyes focus on rekis hands while they fix the broken board laying on the table in front of him. you slowly walk up behind him quietly, avoiding all of the creaks in the floor beneath you. you wrap your arms around his neck gently, resting your chin on his shoulder as you give him a soft kiss on his cheek.

“mm?” he turns his head to try and look at you. “y/n? you’re here?”

you let go of your grip around his neck and he quickly stands up, almost knocking over the chair when trying to get to you. he wraps his arms around your waist, picking you up into the air as he hugs you tightly. “i missed you, you dork!” he says while swinging you in his arms like it’s nothing.

you let out a small giggle, “okay! okay! put me down!”

you laugh as he puts you down onto the floor, still hugging you tightly. he’s acting like he hasn’t seen you in forever, meanwhile it’s only been 2 days.

he eventually lets go of the hug and looks at you. you tilt your head and step on your tippy toes to look over his shoulder to see what he’s working on.

“oh, that…” he turns around, sitting back in his chair and he lifts up the board. you stand beside him and look down at it.

“is that my old board?” you ask, looking at how new it looked, barely able to see the scratches.

a few months ago you had an accident and crashed your skateboard while skating in ‘s’. you were against adam and you completely injured yourself, spraining your ankle and breaking your wrist. in doing so, the skateboard snapped into pieces. it seemed impossible to fix, but it was your favourite skateboard, as it was the first one reki gave you when you first learned how to skate,

he nods and looks up at you, “yeah… it’s getting there.”

you smile as you run your finger against it, feeling how smooth it is.

he puts his hands on your waist and pulls you closer to him, forcing you to sit on his lap to face him. you look into his eyes down to his lips.

“thank you, reki…” you say with a small whisper.

he gives you a dorky smile, nuzzling his nose against yours. you put your hand on his cheek and give him a soft kiss, him returning it back just as gentle.

he wraps his arms fully around your waist, bringing you closer to him as he continues to kiss you. you let out a small laugh while kissing him, shocked that this is the current situation.

“wanna help?” he asks. you nod quickly, turning around in his lap, his arms wrapped around your stomach as he leans his chin on your shoulder.
