Look, i’ve never seen or read anything about The Dark Crystal (damn it looks good though) but those Skekis creatures remind me sooo strongly of the Shrykes in the Edge Chronicles:

(Oh yeah, this is a kids series btw, and it is incredibly dark)

But anyway, i’m glad that we, as a collective society, are finally embracing bird creature people.

The illustrator for the books is Chris Riddell I believe, and he was the dude who made me fall in love with book illustrations and want to do it when i’m older.

Hup X skekmal headcannons

This is a unexpected request from a ig follower. But

HERE WE GO!

Headcannons:

Skekmal thinks hup is cute

When skekmal is acting bad hup will boop his beak with his mighty spoon and skekmak will try not to laugh.

Skekmal finds it amusing that hup tries to beat him in their play fights.

Hup was terrified of skekmal at first until skekmal started being soft and gentle with him and carrying him around.

Hup threatens to get skekmal when people are mean to him.

Skekmal tries to reach hup how to use a real sword but he doesn’t like to because the spoon is just so adorable.

Tiny hands skekmals only weakness

Skekmal thinks it’s so cute when hup wants to practice fighting skekmal. Skekmal adores hup’s spoon.

Hup was not expecting skekmal to be such a aggressive snuggler.

When in a fight hup tries to run in front of skekmal and skekmal very calmly moved him out of the line of Fire but let’s hup believe that he’s protecting skekmal.

When people pick on poor little hup well skekmal will appear looming behind hup and scare the people away. Before hup even knows skekmal is there the big skeksis will disappear making hup think he intimidated those bullies all by himself.

Skekmal will bug hup for kisses by nuzzling his beak against his face. He loves tiny kisses.

Skekmal wants to protect hup with his life because hup is so tiny.

Skekmal will pack hup around like hup is a kitten. Packing him around in his mouth by the collar on his shirt.

Hup sits on skekmal’s shoulders everywhere they go.

Hup plays spoon drums on skekmals skull mask as they go places and sings. It doesn’t bother skekmal. If anything he enjoys.

Hup is to small to hold skekmals hand so instead he holds skekmals finger.

Sometimes skekmal catches hup playing dress up in his clothes and it just melts his heart.

Hup thinks skekmal gives the best hugs.

Sometimes hup will take naps on skekmals beak happily hugging his face.

Skekmal pets hup until hup falls asleep.

Hup normally falls asleep on skekmals lap or on his chest.

If hup pouts enough then he’s able to get skekmal to sing songs with him.
