One thing I noticed about Down the Drain:

At the very end after Julie shoots Nick (I think I got the names right) she’s turns gleeful and bites her lip, then the camera cuts to the sink before ending

if you go back to the very beginning, it starts with her seeming shocked/disturbed or something similar. this is what happens AFTER the ending at the end

This could mean one of two things:

A. (I think this is most likely) The people working on the film decided to show her looking disturbed in the beginning to hook the reader and make you ask questions like “why is she upset?”

B. (This is more interesting to me) This accurately reflects and shows what she is beginning to feel after she murders Nick. The weight of what she’s done is settling in and that is starting to get to her. Maybe she’s even beginning to regret it, and that’s an interesting juxtaposition when compared to the large part of the film that was her wanting to revenge and taking joy in hurting and killing Nick. Despite what the film makes you believe: She didn’t get what she wanted

i REALLY like option b!!! it was probably a, but b is super duper interesting. she enjoyed it in the moment but now she's left feeling empty and possibly questioning her own sanity now, especially how she says "how do you deal with portrayal" could be her trying to maybe justify her actions :0
