more than just Frieren fanart, this is a very special, personal piece to me. context under the cut (tw death, car accident mention)

i know it's been a long while since I've posted something new. a lot has been happening. but today I have something special dedicated to a dear friend of mine who passed away in December in a car accident.

I haven't drawn something for your birthday since 2017, so I wanted to change that. you would always recommend anime to me, one of the most recent recommendations being Frieren. I only started watching it now after you passed (you had to go in order for me to finally watch something u recommended, I'm the worst /lh), but I find it amazing how the themes apply to how I'm feeling now. the regret of not knowing someone better, not meeting up as often as you would have liked, missing your friend, and not wanting to make the same mistake again. you had no way of knowing what would happen, but... thank you for recommending it to me. it's bringing me comfort, like you always would give me when I needed it. thanks for comforting me even from the other side. happy birthday and rest in peace 🕊️
