WoW Easter Eggs and References: The Arrakoa Outcasts
While unconfirmed by Blizzard Entertainment, it’s widely speculated that the Arrakoa Outcast design and animations and parts of their culture are spawn from The Skeksis: a bird-like race originating from Jim Henson’s 1982 The Dark Crystal.
The Arrakoa Outcasts come from from their parent race of their more majestic Arrakoa cousins and are cursed reflections of them due to the Curse of Sethe. Any Arrakoa found breaking the law, dabbling in magic or worshipping “false gods” are thrown from the capital of Skyreach wherein they will begin to malform and be unable to fly.
The Skeksis also have their own counter parts. Once, the planet had one race, the UrSeks, until the Dark Crystal shattered and created two: The kind and wise UrRu (or Mystics), and the power hungry and cruel Skeksis.
Both races appear hunched and bird-like in form, and the hidden Arrakoa Outcast capital is known as Skettis... as in Skeksis?
