Colin WAS Alexander, he did not just played a historical figure, he became one with it, there was no Colin on the screen, it was ALL Alexander, even in his eyes, HIS EYES TOLD EVERYTHING and I'm getting very emotional talking about this movie and every sacrifice and effort that was put into the making of this masterpiece, cry with me
tbh i don’t understand the hate colin received for alexander. i think the way he approached the character, the historical figure, was a very human way. like i can’t imagine alexander having all that pressure in his childhood from both his parents, the pressure of the crown, the conquering... and not having it affect him in an emotional kind of way, it had to. and i think colin portrayed that tortured side of alexander soooooooo well, i don’t think any other actor of his era could’ve done it as good. for example, i recently watched that “alexander the great: the path to power” documentary and i hated the way they portrayed alexander. but again, this is all because of the subjective perception i have of alexander. in this documentary he’s legit a dick. and sure, if you read plutarch, arrian... alexander is certainly a dick sometimes but like the way he’s portrayed in that documentary.... i wanted to slap him so bad lmaosooooooooooo much effort was put into the film, we’re talking about ten years of oliver stone’s life that he spent writing the script. it’s not easy to write a script about alexander. you have to reduce such grand life to 3h30m max. and it’s impossible. he accomplished so much not even a 10 hour tv series would make it justice. i don’t rly mind what people have to say about the film bc i genuinely believe it was done with the most care and humility possible. the acting is beautiful (as much as others like to disagree), the photography is stunning and it’s given me soooo much in terms of inspiration i don’t have words to thank it
