Yer a wizard, Harry!

My wizard (who is not named Harry...or Ron) is level 28 now. If anything he's becoming even easier to play. Current build: Electrocute w/ Chain Lightning Teleport w/ Safe Passage Blizzard, no rune Hydra w/ Arcane Hydra Diamond Skin w/ Crystal Shell Energy Armor, no rune Prodigy Astral Presence So..I keep my distance, drop Blizzards on enemies as far away as possible, put the Hydra between me and them, then spam Electrocute to get arcane power back. Works great in areas with rooms and doors, just put the Hydra in the doorway and shoot blindly into the other room. I got a 31 kill massacre without seeing a single monster. Anyway, that's all for now.

Tried a new build with my WD: Poison Dart w/ Splinters Grasp of the Dead w/ Unbreakable Grasp Hex w/ Hedge Doctor Spirit Walk w/ Healing Journey Soul Harvest w/ Soul to Waste Spirit Barrage w/ Phantasm Jungle Fortitude Spirit Vessel Vision Quest So. I think it could work well with a bit better gear. I did kill 4 elite packs. When it did well, it did very well. But mostly it banked on Grasp of the Dead hitting packs so they couldn't get to me. I didn't have an answer to any packs with mortar. My biggest problem, though, is that this isn't FUN. I've been a huge fan of the witch doctor for like 3 years now. I always knew that zombie bears would be great, and the pets are neat and the class would be fun to play. But it seems that in order to progress into inferno, you have to commit to a long range, kite style of play. If I wanted to do that, I'd play a demon hunter. So I played my wizard a bit more last night. It was good fun. Frost Nova + Explosive Blast = win. He might be my next 60.

T-minus 4 days

Well...I think I've reached the toughest point in the home stretch: my last set of days off before the game launches. Sunday I'll go back to work, and it's just 2 workdays and at the end of that second day I'll go to a midnight release.

I find that the toughest part of the wait now is avoiding spoilers, because now people have their hands on the CE, which comes with DVDs with spoilers on them (like cinematics), and the Game Guide from Brady, which pretty much spoils  everything.

Not really sure why I don't want anything spoiled at this point..I've obsessed over the game enough so far that a fair bit of ignorance is long gone by now. I have a pretty good idea who the first act boss is, and I think that was supposed to be a big surprise.

Maybe I won't make it, and I'll cave and go read everything that is out there now about the game, because Monday will be even tougher, when they update Bnet with new Diablo 3 stuff and it all gets spoiled pretty much instantly.  And even if I make it through that..It isn't like I'm not getting the Collector's Edition, with the spoiler filled extra content it includes. Do I not look at that until I've completed the first run through the game?

Unrelated..I'm currently pondering the viability of the summoning Witch Doctor in Inferno. While I acknowledge that fretting over content we haven't seen yet is frivolous...well, what else am I gonna do with my time? While a lot of people have had concerns with the viability of the actual pets the WD has being survivable in Inferno (where everything hits like a truck), my concern is skill choices.  Jay Wilson recently commented that to survive in Inferno, you need good AoE, good single target damage, and solid escape and support skills. He stressed that you might need more than one escape spell in Inferno.

Problem is: a summoner WD only has 4 skill slots (because his pets take up 2). That means you end up with something like:

AoE based main attack

high damage single target secondary attack

high cooldown power attack

escape spell

So...yeah. I dunno, you're banking heavily on your primary and secondary attacks really being solid, because you don't have those extra two slots to make up ground if they're not enough.  Something to think about...I might post a link to a level 60 build if I come up with one I like.
