Skill Development - A Need of the Hour!
India is the second most populated nations in the world with the total population being equal to 1.324 billion in the year 2016. Among the total population, more than 65% of them are under the age of 35 years. It is also expected that by 2020, the average age of the total Indian population would be 29 years. It is much lower as compared to the average ages of many developed as well as developing nations. Yet, the International Labour Organization estimates that the unemployment rate would rise to 3.5% in the year 2018. This means that the number of unemployed people would rise to 18.6 million in the year 2018. To overcome this problem, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Indian Government has launched a number of Skill Development Training Programme in India.
The government has also launched the initiative of “Skill India” under which various skill development training programme in India is launched. These programmes help in increasing employability of the youth through skill development. Skill India offers courses/training to people across 40 sectors in the country which align with the industry as well as the government standards. These try to ensure that the
The basic motive of the skill development training programme in India is to make a person employable or self-sufficient in a way that the person is able to earn a living for himself as well as for the family. These training programs are designed, implemented and supervised by numerous NGOs. It makes the person independent, improves his livelihood and gives pride as he can work for himself on his own.
Along with the government initiatives, various other organizations and NGOs have also taken the onus to provide skill training to the people. One such organization is DLF Foundation which works day and night for the people helping them to earn their living and improve their life.
