Hello, hello~! (*´﹃｀*) Since my RP partner and I have been busy (me moving into an apartment and her working) I might end up posting Day Three of Rivarmin Fest today on AO3 and making up the rest later. If that’s okay, that is?
So my school rented out the local theater for the premiere of Iron Man 3. Pretty awesome right? Well one of my best friends, Danni, has never been to one and there was a bit of confusion when she texted me today. So here's the conversation verbatim, spelling errors and all, sorry ^ ^;
Panda: What are we going to do about the movie?
Me: It is not tonight, I was right ;p A midnight premiere means 12 of the next day (The poster printed out say Thurs: Iron Man 3 Premiere)
Panda: I always thought it meant 12AM when Thursday actually starts o.o
Me: Nope ^ ^
Panda: .....where does that make sense then? So.. then that means it's 12am on Friday?
Me: ....Yes.
Me: You will come when I summon you tomorrow at 6ish to make pizza
Panda: .......Whaaaaaaaat? Then why does it say Thursday and not Friday? It just doesn't make seeeeeeeense >~<;;
Me: Just shhhh shhh shhh. And if it was on Friday we;d be there on Saturday. It premieres Fridays which is why we go on Thursday.
Panda: Still doesn't make sense but okay :(
Me: *sighs* Well I can't phrase it otherwise. Maybe ask ask mama (vikingsenjoymuffins) to explain.
Me: Oh wait I got it. It doesn't come out until the 3rd and today is the 1st.
By this point I had moved to our coffee shop to poke Emi (Jamjar) and Fi (princess) as I am prone to do as that is their natural habitat.
Jam: Wassup?
Princess: *on phone but waves*
Me: *pokes her shirt and sits down* I'm trying to explain what a midnight premiere is, how would you do it? *checks phone*
Panda: Meaniiiing?
Me: *facepalm*
Me: What day is tomorrow? the 2nd. Therefore it is not going to be out yet.
Panda: So we leave tomorrow?
Me: By Jove I think you've go it!
Panda: .....still doesn't make complete since if it shows midnight on Friday >___<
Me: Midnight is morning!
Panda: Exactly, on a Friday but it says Thursday o.o
Me: *headdesk*
Jam: Here let me try. Sup this is Emi. Just think that Friday morning is the same as Thursday night. When it hits 12:00 AM it is officially Friday so it opens at that moment. *sends text*
So I'm crossing my fingers and Princess is busy on DA / laughing a little bit and refusing to take part in this.
*5 minutes later*
Panda: ........eeeehhhhhh, ok then :/
Me: Ok. Look at a calendar right now. Look at today then look at tomorrow then look at today and look at tomorrow. What do you see? Now go Mathieu's clock and move it forward until midnight tonight and see what do it say.
Panda: ....could I do it after class? o.o
Me: *facepalms again because she's texting me in class when she can't afford to*
Panda: Then again I'm going to try to work on my paper more, eat dinner and nap... after my meeting?
Me: *resigned* Sure if you want. All it will take is a few mins. Literally opening the calendar and clock apps [on her phone].
Panda: Mweeeeeeeeeeeh *flops down*
Panda: I'll just take you word for it.
Emi: LEt me try one more thing. From Emi: When it is 11:59 PM it is Thursday but when it is 12:00AM it is Friday.
Panda: Wait.... I work 6-10 tomorrow... So I will have ti see if anyone can take my shift last minute :(
Us 3: ..... I think she explained it to herself.
And thus we proceeded to giggle a bit and I got their permission to post this.
So I still have no idea if she gets it xD. We're silly people indeed. Anyone else been to a midnight premiere before? How was it?
