ROOOOOSHH ANALYSSISSSS FASTPASS PLEASEEEEEEE GO
I hope I'm not too late for this LOL sorry Greed and everyone else (including the Anon, who I will include in this post) who wanted me to say something about 393, but here you go!!
FAST PASS SPOILERS FOR UNORDINARY EP 393 (MOST RECENT FAST PASS EPISODE AS OF 08/05/26)
Tumblr likes to shuffle around the "keep reading" thing so I'm placing some text here JUST IN CASE cuz I can't trust it that much either. This is also quite long cuz I didn't realize I had a TON to say about 393 lol... enjoy !!
Okay like the last ones I've been doing I'll just react and give my general observations since I don't consider these to be as deep as my usual analyses cuz I don't reread unO to do these. If I miss anything then that's on me lol, anyone is free to point things out in the replies!
First thing's first:
Oh how the tables really have tabled... we went from Arlo calling Farrah a snake in 346 to Sera calling Arlo a snake </3
In a way, we're coming full circle with Arlo starting to dip into the deep end of being another cog in the Bureau's crap system. The crushing pressure of Val's expectations are starting to mold Arlo into an "ideal" child soldier for the Bureau and eventually EMBER, and you can see it in how Kass continues to react to Arlo acting irrationally lol...
"Yes, we want Orrin but this isn't the way to do it!"
Too focused on the mission and proving himself so let's throw away every semblance of empathy that made Arlo himself!!! He's becoming a version of himself that his old self would be disgusted at, and I wonder if Kass can even act in time to stop him before Farrah and Val egg him onto worse things (namely, EMBER).
Backstabbing John and Sera at their weakest wasn't a bad plan though... I did call Arlo an idiot last week for choosing to piss off the strongest kids he knows in his generation, buuuut... I will admit that it was a solid plan. Sera was indeed too weak to break out of Arlo's barrier without sustaining damage and not having enough aura to get herself, John, AND Orrin out of there in time. If Cameron didn't intervene, then Jera might've been captured by the Bureau... very scary to think about. They knew something was wrong with Arlo and still risked everything to help him—all for him to betray them at the very end.
I am a tad bit sad that Sera didn't explode at Arlo, but the 2nd best thing happened instead :3 which I will talk about eventually. I think the look she gives him after he says "You can try to damage my barrier all you want! But you won't have the strength to escape afterwards!" reads as a 'he's right... but I won't let us get captured so easily.' I bet Sera was scheming immediately and thinking of every possible way to get her and John out of being captured, but I also believe that Kass would've intervened and reprimanded Arlo if Cameron didn't knock that child out lol.
So I guess we can better imagine how Rei would pierce Arlo's barrier back when he was a 9th grader (coughing baby Rei compared to hydrogen bomb Cameron anyway). Arlo's always taken some degree of damage whenever there's lightning in his barrier, but actually seeing Cameron's lightning pop Arlo's barrier in one hit is crazy!! I found it very cool that you could see the sparks of electricity on Arlo as he collapsed :D even though he didn't get shocked directly, all the electric damage his barrier took still reflected back on Arlo himself. Something about one's energy/life force being tied to their barrier/shield ability, I suppose!
Arlo doesn't remember whose lightning he technically got struck by sadly, but I wonder if there was a part of him somewhere who could recognize that it was Remi's lightning </3 No matter how far he's away from the lightning siblings, they'll always find some way to leave a mark on his life!! I believe in a Remi training/upgrade arc!! She's due for one, so I hope she will be able to do crazy lightning maneuvering like Cameron can, especially since we saw her push herself in the Prison Break arc and saw a bit of her future potential:
REMI, YOU TOO, CAN STRIKE DOWN ARLO'S BARRIER ONE DAY!!! Her lightning might not be as powerful as Rei's but I believe in her to surpass her dead brother!!
Putting my fondness for Remi aside, isnt it so insane that John got his shit rocked by both Orrin!Sera AND Arlo and... STAYED CONSCIOUS AFTER ALL OF THAT?? Something is up with him, I swear. I've noticed that John is usually the last to go down no matter how much damage he takes (remember when he got hit by that van back in ep 73 with NO defense ability [successfully] copied and got back up???) and he's usually the first one to wake back up whenever he's recovered enough from a serious injury (see ep 275 post-Liam-assassination attempt). Whatever he inherited from either Jane or William made him super durable for some reason... like a dandelion that can endure living in a concrete jungle. John with a high vitality stat or something...
And yes... Cameron is finally here!! His last appearance was in ep 370 when he spoke to Remi during his search for John... 23 whole episodes ago. I will admit... a part of me honestly didn't want to see Cameron cuz of all the people who KEPT BRINGING HIM UP EVERY DAMN EPISODE ever since John ran off (this was back when I actually did care to read comments under each episode). But finding the inner peace in my heart, I actually don't mind that Cameron showed up cuz logically Jera needed a way out from Arlo backstabbing them that wasn't Kass (since Amelia is still around) AND there had to be a way to get John back with Cameron so John would begrudgingly ask Cameron for those pointers. It was inevitable that Cameron would catch up to Jera, especially with how quickly he probably can get around using Remi's Lightning. He is wearing a brown overcoat instead of the blue one he was wearing back in 370 though, so he's definitely taken breaks between using Remi's ability to get around. I also imagine that Scarlette might be with him too since he doesn't really have a way to track John down...? Who knows!
This episode marks the 2nd time John's been treated like a sack of potatoes flung over someone else's shoulder, with the first time being from 344-345 when Isen was tasked with the very important mission to keep John alive enough while the others were doing the heavy lifting (sorry Isen but it's true). Too bad Cameron zapped John to knock him out... better than being tossed into the back of a police car maybe?? Both Arlo and John are down for the count, so it really did end up being Sera having the last say (kinda) about anything going on...
Okay let's listen to me talk about Cameron's "You've had my nephew trailing after you like some lost mutt! You're lucky I haven't made you answer for it!" to Sera...
I really truly have to laugh. As a Jera shipper, my first interpretation of Cameron's dialogue was that he sees John as some lovesick puppy who can't help but follow Sera around cuz he's definitely got no free will otherwise. John already got the 'Is she your girlfriend or something?' allegation from Cameron back in 346, so it wouldn't be farfetched for Cameron to assume that Sera is also 'manipulating' John into doing whatever she wants by taking advantage of his feelings for her. But this is where Cameron obviously doesn't know John or Sera that well... because John has continuously declared his undying devotion to Sera over and over and over, especially after season 2 part 2 started:
Lost mutt? That mutt is exactly where he wants to be LOL. And Sera isn't any better because she was also a lost puppy trailing after John around the time she lost her ability and became VERY reliant on him to stay sane. It only really feels like John's the one who is mostly trailing after her right now since she's full of ambition and he's unwilling to leave her side. It's not like Sera would be a lost puppy stumbling after John (well now she is I guess), but you better damn believe that she would hold that puppy tight and keep him close (uee...)!!!
Cameron blaming Sera for John's willingness to follow her everywhere is so crazy... he acts as if John didn't have a say in anything. Like it was Sera's fault specifically that SHE had John following her and that it wasn't something John decided on his own... It's like how the Bureau blamed Vaughn for the children in Wellston defecting and becoming criminals or how Arlo blamed John for leading Sera away from the hierarchy very early on in unO. I guess since the society in unO follows a hierarchical structure, there's always someone above you in power that dictates what you should believe in. As such, free will isn't real cuz everyone should only listen to the stronger/older people!! John listened to Sera cuz she's stronger than him, duh!!! Sera only wants John around cuz he's strong and not because she's also horribly in love with him /s.
The last time John spoke to Cameron, Cameron kept cutting John off and lectured him on not having a concrete plan (cuz the planning is all Sera's thing, duh!!). It's no wonder that he had no idea what John was planning at all cuz he refused to listen to John. Sera was right to call Cameron out LMAO, but this bullheaded refusal to listen to ANYONE is a trait that both Cameron and John share. It's just that no one has humbled Cameron enough to force him to listen to anyone, and John and Sera are children who clearly know nothing of the world /j.
When Sera called out Cameron for ignoring everything John was saying, I thought back to how Sera called Narisa out for being so overbearing and controlling on both of her children, which drove them both to run away. I wonder if Sera thought back to Leilah when she flipped the blame back on Cameron. Leilah had no freedom and felt like she had no other choice but to run away, and I doubt Narisa or her husband ever bothered to listen to Leilah or Sera since they were punished for acting out of line. John ran away because Cameron stubbornly refused to listen to John, and Leilah ran away because her parents refused to treat her like a person instead of an item made to follow orders. Two of the most important people in Sera's life ran away from home because they weren't understood and were never going to be listened to regardless of their complaints.
Anyway, shout out to Kass AGAIN for having a brain and being able to piece together that Jane was the one the Bureau's been experimenting on!!! Now Kass is also aware that Jane is Cameron's sister and John's mother... and that Jera's goal in capturing Orrin was solely to find out info on Jane. I will always love unOrdinary for having characters who can THINK!!! I've had enough of stories where no one outside of the main protagonists and maybe the main villain are STUPID as SHIT!!!! I'm glad to see side characters like Kass be able to think for themselves!
Imo, it makes sense that Cameron doesn't want to mess with the Bureau since he's already expressed that they're a pain to deal with and he definitely doesn't think he's strong enough to even challenge them:
There's a good chance that Cameron is also stronger than Sera too, but he's got a more defeatist attitude against the authorities than the kids do. Though, despite his defeatist attitude against the authorities, he was (slightly) encouraging to Remi back in 370. But I guess with Orrin being a high profile criminal, Cameron didn't want to risk sending the entire Bureau after him when he's supposed to be keeping John safe from all the people after him.
Also, Sera drops the honorifics for Cameron after he tells her that he's not getting involved lol. She also did call him "Mister Cameron" back in 346, so I guess she did attempt to stay in his good graces. Of course, that all went out the window cuz Cameron refused to help Sera and tore John away from her...
"From now on, you stay away from John! If I catch you on my premises again, there will be consequences!"
Phew... we are getting the "stay away from my child" trope from Cameron of all people. Honestly, I would've expected it sooner from Sera's parents regarding John since we all know how he was the first person to free her and turn her into a rebellious child. But I guess we're getting our forced Jera breakup from a parental figure before Jera even get together!! Sera is deemed too bad of an influence on John, so Cameron is forbidding her to see his nephew... or else there will be consequences!!
But what consequences?? Is he gonna tell her parents that she's been seeing John and stringing him along as a criminal? Is he gonna beat her up?? What could Cameron POSSIBLY do to actually keep Sera away from John? LMAOOOO I really can't imagine that he could even keep them apart successfully for so long. Both John and Sera are rebellious teens who are also very attached and codependent on one another in the unhealthiest ways possible. Let's see who is going to tear everything apart to see the other first lol!!!
With this being like the 6th Jera divorce (this is what I call every period of time John and Sera are forced to be apart in one way or another), I'm thinking that Jera might have a solid chance of getting together when they reunite again. Last divorce, they last saw each other in 321 and reunited in 346. But when they did reunite in 346, they both cried their eyes out, hugged, held hands, and then Sera used John as a lap pillow while he pet her hair. So what I'm thinking is that the distance this time, especially right after a very traumatic day, would be enough to make them realize that they truly never want to be apart from each other again. And then they'll get together and kiss and and and... continue to be their own separate characters and keep their personalities outside of their relationship....
If we have to wait another half a year for Jera to reunite again, so be it...
And to anon, if you are still reading all this...
BEGINNING??? Sera has BEEN suffering this whole time I fear... I'd say shit hit the fan for her the moment Scorch and Cinder set a building on fire (idk wtf caused the rumbling back at the end of 375). I brought this up in my 389 essay/ramble, but she's been stressing out about John since 379. And the only reason why she's been emotionally stable for most of season 3 so far is because John's been with her and hasn't been in serious danger (he got out of the Prison Break arc mostly unscathed after all). But ever since John got hurt fighting Scorch/Cinder, she's been so worried about him...
Let's recap a bit. Sera blamed herself in 379 for not getting to John sooner; it was Sera's plan to ally with Kass and co. in 386 despite John's misgivings about them; Sera got possessed once and hurt John in 388-389; Sera got possessed again and was forced to watch herself nearly kill John in 392; Arlo backstabbed her and hurt John even more also in 392-393; and Cameron refused to hear her out and even told her to stay away from John from now on.
And with the final nail in the coffin, Cameron's taken John away from her... her anchor for mental stability is gone, and she's alone once more...
The moment Cameron leaves, Sera still instinctively calls out for John... but she has to focus and yell at Cameron instead since that's what matters more. She immediately tears up as she starts yelling after Cameron too... MY POOR BABY!!!!
When she backs away a bit after seeing all the reinforcements, she looks so small... Sera is at her breaking point </3 she's been ignored and she's lost her best friend once again. She can't even get away with Orrin or else she'd get captured!!
All Sera can do is wail in frustration. I'm glad she decided not to bottle up her pent-up feelings of rage, but it was so heartbreaking to see... her "tantrum" felt very John to me. Though if it was John, he would've at least punched or kicked something out of frustration too. But because it's Sera having a fit, she can only scream since anything else would've been too risky to do in front of all those cops. Poor Sera isn't even allowed to break anything or punch any walls or else she'd get labeled as a threat and then jumped.
AT THE END OF THE DAY, SERAPHINA IS STILL A 17-YEAR-OLD CHILD WHO NEVER GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!
It's so sad that Kass has to see Arlo and Sera break down despite their strength and capabilities... she can't even bear to watch Sera cry because she knows how Sera must feel but Sera's a criminal... there's really nothing Kass can do besides give Sera an opportunity to run. To me, it seems like it's a hollow victory for Kass because Jeralo imploded badly, a bunch of people died, and Jax is still dying as she speaks.
Oh, but I am pretty happy to see the Sera stress build up over this arc and finally blow up in her face. The consequences she so easily brushed off in 375 came to haunt her after all... and now she's got nothing to show for all the suffering she and John went through for the whole day. She's technically also failed the mission Neil gave her and John since the Bureau's captured Orrin. I mourn for her but I also celebrate the suffering since she is one of my favorite children :3
OH RIGHT, the ability charts lol. Now, I'm not one for powerscaling so I actually don't really care that Orrin is a 8.6, but it makes sense that he would be SO powerful since he was able to possess Sera without any trouble. What I did notice though is that there is a tinge of green in Candice, Brielle, Ronan, and Liam's ability profiles:
You can even see the green in Candice and Liam's original profiles back in 289! This is completely speculation, but perhaps Orrin can provide a passive stat buff to a stat that someone specializes in. For Candice and Liam, they specialize in Trick. Brielle specializes in Defense, and Ronan specializes in Recovery. All of them are loyal to Orrin and perhaps that's one of the requirements to access the stat buff (besides Orrin's permission lol)? Kinda like a passive guild buff maybe... considering that their defenses (mostly Brielle's I guess) dropped when Orrin possessed Sera, the buff could also only be active when Orrin's in his body and if he's within a certain radius of his people [okay well, Candice and Liam still had the passive stat boost even tho Orrin wasn't around so idk]. Now that he's lost his ability too though, the buff is probably also disabled now...
((Side note: I really hope that with Orrin's ability being gone, Sera won't ever be able to be possessed by him again... cuz what if he regains his ability and possesses Sera again?? Do the mental links remain even after getting disabled??? IDK!!! More worrying from me about Sera thanks to NO GOOD TRAITOR NUMBER THREE ARLO OVER THERE... [I'm not actually that mad at him lol]))
So what's next for everyone? Arlo is probably going to get promoted up to Anti-Terrorism like Val expected, Sera will have to go back to Spectre North and report her failure to secure Orrin (praying to see Leilah comfort her), John will blow up at the fact that Cameron forbade Sera to even see him again but he will get a training arc somehow, and Kass will chew Arlo out for being a fucking idiot who can't follow orders. Jax probably will survive... I guess... and he and Amelia can get some answers from Kass, and we'll see where their true allegiances lie. Also, I imagine that we will see Blysenmi again soon in around 1-2 episodes since we haven't seen them since ep 373, and they'll probably have to face the Bureau soon even with them + Kuyo running the town behind the scenes.
I think 394 will either switch to a diff POV or we will see the aftermath of the Orrin situation. Sera driving alone, Cameron grumbling about how hurt John is, Val being delighted that Arlo proved himself (lol), etc. Feel free to ask me again if you want my thoughts on 394 when it comes out, but I can't guarantee I'll be quick with a response cuz I got busyyyyy... otherwise I wouldn't do these long reactions 😎 gotta ask to receive from dear old Roosh...!
